Overview
The Transportation Payroll Lead will oversee a Payroll Team, direct the processing of all driver payroll items on a weekly basis, ensure accurate and timely submission of payroll documents to Corporate Payroll and is responsible for driver on-boarding functions.
Primary Responsibilities
Essential Functions
DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and train payroll team and contractors to ensure consistency with standard processes for driver payroll.
- Lead payroll team through the following functions:
- Analyze, verify, and correct trip sheets for accuracy and proper approvals.
- Coordinate and enter payroll data for weekly and biweekly payroll cadences.
- Work with internal Corporate Payroll and Transportation Department to ensure all personnel records are maintained and accurate, and reports are submitted in a timely manner.
- Manage relationship with fuel and hotel vendors ensuring drivers have functional access.
- Provide weekly reporting on driver statements and corrections.
- Monitor and manage a shared mailbox for all requests and process them accordingly.
- Partner with Transportation Managers, Directors, and Sr. Leadership to provide analysis and recommendations for annual driver pay reviews.
- Partner with the Accounts Payable team to ensure driver union dues are submitted in a timely manner.
- Ensure payroll issues are escalated as needed and resolved promptly.
- Maintain safeguards of confidential company information.
- Other duties and special projects as requested.
Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate ability to maintain high standards of accuracy and assure compliance with company and other applicable policies and procedures.
- Well organized and able to handle multiple tasks at once.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software or related.
- High energy level and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to meet applicable payroll deadlines.
- Strong data entry skills with high rate of accuracy.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with one year of experience in payroll function preferred or 3+ years of experience in payroll with at least 2 years of management experience or supervisory experience.
- Previous clerical experience and knowledge of operations and transportation functions preferred.
