About the role

This exciting role will be given the unique opportunity to strategize, define, and implement the future UI / UX of the platform from a blank state. It is a complete greenfield role where you will be empowered to decide design frameworks and processes in a fairly young design environment.

You will be the first designer in the business, and therefore will need to lead and empower UX / UI initiatives across product development, and in the short-term conduct audits on the existing user experience for our clients.

Please note this is a hybrid role, applicants must be able to work from our New York location 1-3 days a week.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with our Product, Design & Engineering teams to shape the user experience for multiple innovative products.
  • Develop a deep understanding of core user problems and goals, enhancing our platform’s appeal and functionality.
  • Craft high-fidelity designs and compelling user journeys for our development teams and the broader business to engage with.
  • Construct and conduct comprehensive user research plans for new and existing products, effectively presenting your findings.
  • Uncover key insights, opportunities, and solutions through thorough research synthesis.
  • Balance user and business outcomes through effective communication with stakeholders.
  • Empathetically understand our users through interviews, testing, and regular feedback sessions.
  • Champion the advancement of our company design system, ensuring consistency across product experiences.
  • Advocate for the user in every product discussion, giving them a voice at the table.
  • Play a key role in strategic decisions alongside the product and leadership team, contributing to the future of our platform.

Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:

  • Solid experience in designing and shipping end-to-end products with intricate flows and edge cases.
  • Proficiency in designing B2B products and engaging with clients.
  • Proven track record of working with senior executives or business leaders to align design with company strategy and vision.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities within a design team.
  • Experience in implementing ADA compliant web design.
  • Success in transitioning from an older UI to a contemporary UI/UX system.
  • Exceptional foresight in identifying potential opportunities and initiative in developing high-fidelity prototypes and narratives to drive insight and clarity.
  • Fast learner with a proven ability to understand new domains and incorporate learnings into the design process.
  • Bonus: Experience in Legal Technology is a plus.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to think strategically and envision product developments.
  • Expertise in Figma and familiarity with whiteboarding tools like Figjam, Miro.
  • Familiarity with ticketing, note-taking, and analytics tools.
  • Understanding of atomic design principles and experience working with a design system.
  • Experience in managing effective research initiatives – defining, planning, recruiting, collecting, analyzing, reporting.
  • Knowledge of generative and evaluative research methodologies (interviews and testing).
  • Strong creative and technical design skills, along with a mature understanding of UI.
  • Demonstrated ability to present effectively to large audiences and key stakeholders.
  • Experience in a LEAN & rapid agile environment.

Compensation

The anticipated starting base pay range for this role is listed below. Base salary is not the only component of our competitive total rewards package – you may also be eligible for bonus, commissions, equity, and other benefits as described below. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications.

$125,000 – $190,000
