Lead Staff Software Engineer (Core Experience-Web Discovery) (Viagogo Inc., New York, NY)
Design scalable, reliable, and maintainable distributed applications and web features impacting millions of users every day. Work with engineering and product stakeholders to build and execute product roadmaps targeting Core Experience (CX) discovery and browse experiences. Build and run processes to support innovation and ideation for the CX web growth team, including sourcing ideas from industry best practices, user research, and team member brainstorming. Establish and iterate on processes for maintaining world-class operational excellence for the experience suite supported by the CX web growth team. Act as a subject matter expert for evaluating candidates’ technical skills. Supervise, train, and assign work to Level I, II, and Senior engineers. Use strong communication skills (written and verbal) to support the growth of team members by producing career development plans and matching them to appropriate stretch-products. Ensure work is completed in accordance with architectural decisions. Take a lead role in driving the direction of software architecture within CX org and overall, in the company’s infrastructure. Select, promote, and evaluate engineer performance within the CX organization and the overall organization. Position allows for telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S. Salary: $240,000 – $350,000 per year.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or related field plus 4 years of professional experience engineering, designing, building, operating, and maintaining software products, including building and supporting N-tier products authored in a mixture of back-end (including C#) and front-end (including JavaScript) languages, building products on relational databases (including SQL Server) using requisite tools and techniques at scale (including in-process caching), and working with MVC frameworks (including ASP.Net MVC).
Must also have the following: 3 years of professional experience building and maintaining complex distributed systems that operate at significant scale (millions of users); 3 years of professional experience building and deploying solutions to service global markets, including multi-language and multi-currency e-commerce platforms; 3 years of professional experience working with front-end frameworks that support architecting complex applications (including React); 3 years of professional experience utilizing front-end state management techniques and libraries (including React Context and Redux); 2 years of professional experience engineering solutions that support a two-sided marketplace; 2 years of professional experience building and deploying controlled experiments (including A/B tests) at a global scale; 2 years of professional experience managing entry and senior level engineers; 1 year of professional experience leading a team of 5 or more engineers.
