Position Overview

Starting Salary Range is $61,984 -$71,286. The initial salary offer is commensurate with education and related work experience.

The Learning System Specialist will provide knowledge and skills to maintain and test new features and upgrades in each of the five (5) Blackboard Learn environments. The Learning System Specialist will work with the LMS System Administrator for the day-to-day running of the LMS, create documentation for users, troubleshoot issues encountered by users, and other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain and monitor the Learning Management Systems currently powered by Blackboard Learn including Bb Collaborate, Bb Ultra, and Bb Ally
  • Monitor and process interfaces between Blackboard and other applications that pertain to course enrollments
  • Create and maintain documentation for users
  • Develop and maintain queries for ad hoc requests and other daily requirements using DDA and Snowflake
  • Assist and maintain the ShareStream (streaming service) system, conduct training, and troubleshoot user issues
  • Work with the LMS System Administrator to facilitate the management of other systems including Respondus, Respondus Lockdown Browser and Monitor, Softchalk, HonorLock, and Publisher content and new processes and procedures
  • Manage the course archive process at the end of each semester

Additional Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participate in user group meetings/listservs
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Minimum Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Technology, Computer Science, or related degree
  • Two (2) years of related work experience working in Learning Management System support
  • Experience working with Higher Ed software and products
  • Computer skills, knowledge of MS Office, O365, and various browsers
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of Windows and MAC operating systems
  • Database skills – working knowledge of databases, development, and executing SQL queries
  • Intermediate knowledge of Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) integrations and implementations
  • Excellent communication skills as well as customer service skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Self-starter
  • Ability to work independently and on a team

Preferred:

  • Experience with Blackboard Learning Management
