Responsibilities
State Farm’s Claim Litigation Counsel (CLC), insurance staff counsel for State Farm Insurance Companies, is seeking a Legal IT Specialist to join our growing Shared Services Legal IT team. The candidate selected will be located at our Corporate Headquarters in Bloomington, IL, or any one of our Claim Litigation locations listed below. The ability to work well with a team of lawyers, paralegals, legal secretaries, and support staff is essential for the job. We are looking for a candidate that will add to a positive, fun, and engaged work environment, while providing process and technological improvement ideas to increase efficiency. The environment is Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office 365, Adobe Acrobat DC, Legal Files (case management web application), GitLab, and HotDocs (document creation web application) based.
The selected candidate is required to live within commuting distance of one of the following locations: Birmingham AL, Tempe AZ, Tucson AZ, Colorado Sprongs CO, Ft. Lauderdale FL, Jacksonville FL, Miami FL, Orlando FL, St. Petersburg FL, Bloomington IL, Indianapolis IN, Baton Rouge LA, Layafette LA, Metairie LA, Oklahoma City OK, and Salt Lake City UT.
The position is classified as a hybrid role, meaning that the work arrangement calls for hours in the office and virtually. Everyone in a hybrid role is required to spend some time in the office. Work arrangements could change over time based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities for this role include:
- Provides day to day technical support relating to Claim Litigation Counsel (CLC) Department and Enterprise processes
- Provides technical training to new and existing CLC personnel on hardware and software
- Supports multiple CLC Office locations as part of Shared Legal IT Support team
- Maintains CLC hardware
- Troubleshoots complex computer software, hardware and operating system problem
- Coordinates requests to add, delete, and change system accesses
- Provides support and recommendations for improved processes, increased efficiency through use of technology, and works on light programming/scripting tasks
- Collaborates with technical (e.g Enterprise Support, Help Desk, Legal Technology) and non-technical departments within State Farm
- Assists assigned office(s) with the creation or revisions of document templates through appropriate software in a timely manner
- Assists with development and presentation of new and creative training programs tailored to individual levels of proficiency
- Develops business cases for additional equipment purchases and makes recommendations for new technology to increase CLC program efficiency
- Collaborates with peers and subject matter resources to innovate and exchange information
- Engages in and responds to Excellence in Operations Management (EOM) dialogues and activities
- Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications
- Significant experience or technical certification in the area of information technology is required
- End-user support and troubleshooting experience, including experience installing and maintaining computers, software, printers, scanners, and other related hardware
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well with all levels of staff which includes leadership, attorneys, paralegals, legal secretaries, and support staff
- Able to explain technical concepts to a large audience of varying technical skill, document technical activity and processes
- Advanced Microsoft Suite skills
- Prior experience with any programming, scripting, or markup language and familiarity with basic coding concepts is preferred
- Familiar with basic antivirus/anti-malware software and information security best practices
- Ability to learn the legal processes and implement improvements relating to both technology and procedural activities
- Ability to prioritize a variety of tasks with both short term and long-term deadlines
- Affinity for problem solving and creating novel solutions, seeking new information from outside sources as needed
- Ability to organize various information resources

Additional Details:
- Travel, via commercial transportation or driving, to job related activities
- Must successfully complete orientation and training programs as assigned by CLC and Law Department Leadership
- Position requires bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting objects typically weighing no more than 25 pounds
- May work irregular hours because of workload and nature of the work
