Overview

Job Summary: The Lighting Designer position is responsible for overseeing that all events, large and small, are equipped with appropriate in-house stage and atmospheric lighting fixtures and control equipment, as well as appropriate power components to power lighting. Design the lighting need for events and work with stage manager and technical director toward this goal. Responsible for the operation of the lighting systems during the entire run of the event. They will also be required to help maintain all the lighting systems and serve as a troubleshooter in the event of system problems

This role will pay an hourly wage of $20 to $45.00.

Seminole Theatre, 18 N. Krome Avenue, Homestead, FL 33030

The Seminole Theatre, a historic icon in Homestead, re-opened its doors in December of 2015 and now serves as the premiere performing arts center and cultural hub for the greater Homestead and South Miami Dade area.

Responsibilities

Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Work with the creative team to come up with ideas
  • Design the lighting needed for the performance
  • Write a lighting plot/script to note where there are any lighting changes
  • Attend technical rehearsals
  • Install and maintain lighting systems for the event.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair the lighting systems throughout the duration of the event.
  • Responsible for seeing that the lighting designs are maintained with artistic integrity throughout the duration of the event.
  • Works under the Stage Manager to operate the lighting systems during the event.
  • Work with the production staff during load out to ensure that stage is reset.
  • Works with the entire event team to maintain a positive, enjoyable, and rewarding environment for all staff and passengers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills/ Experience:

  • Technical skills
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Good communicator
  • Excellent color vision
  • Experience as a theatrical/entertainment lighting system technician/electrician.
  • Experience with programming and operating MA dot2 Core Lighting Console
  • Ability to work alongside the production staff as a team member in an everchanging environment.
  • 2-3 years of experience in lighting or related fields.
