We are looking for two experienced litigators to help manage the Company’s talc product liability cases, consumer class actions, and general commercial litigation matters. Reporting into the Chief Litigation Counsel, these roles are based in our Piscataway, NJ office and operate on a hybrid model.
What you will do
- Litigate matters under the supervision of the Chief Litigation Counsel, with responsibility for management, coordination, and strategy of portions of the Company’s talc product liability litigation, consumer class actions and general commercial litigation, as well as the evaluation and resolution of pre-litigation demands.
- Defend the Company in civil litigation, arbitrations, mediations and government agency hearings, and in response to pre-litigation demands. Coordinate communications between outside counsel and the Company’s in-house legal organization and Company senior management.
- Conduct internal fact investigations and early evaluation and assessments relating to case-specific legal and factual issues. Participate in the preparation or depositions of corporate representatives and current/former Company employees. Oversee the Company’s relationships with its retained experts and third party vendors for Litigation matters. Collect and review documents as part of the Company’s litigation risk assessment. Liaise with opposing counsel on litigation matters, including settlement negotiations. Coordinate the Company’s response, along with Consumer Affairs, to significant consumer product complaints. Attend court conferences and hearings as needed. Review and edit pleadings, including motions, statements, memoranda, legal briefs, and affidavits. Assist with the preparation of responses to interrogatories, subpoenas, documents requests, and requests for admission. Counsel the business and assist with risk assessments relating to marketing and advertising campaigns. Conduct legal research. Assist with Litigation Hold and Document Management Program oversight. Assist with the preparation of quarterly and year-end Auditor reports, SEC filings and updates to the Company’s Board of Directors.
Required qualifications
- Undergraduate and JD degrees
- Minimum of 7-10 years of litigation experience within a major law firm or large company
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with talcum powder or asbestos litigation, marketing and false advertising litigation, class action litigiation, and/or general commercial litigation
- Experience with intellectual property litigation and/or conducting internal investigations

Salary Range $142,400 – $207,900 USD
Pay is based on several non discriminatory factors including but not limited to experience, education, skills and office location. In addition to your salary, Colgate-Palmolive offers a performance based bonus and competitive benefits package.
