Position Title: Game Designer II

Pogo has been the leader in online casual games since 1998. Featuring a growing library of 60+ titles across popular genres like Solitaire, Mahjong, Match 3, and more. We aim to produce high-quality HTML5-powered games with metagames and social mechanics, all while working across desktop and mobile. Our fans and subscribers come to Pogo for fresh content, daily challenges, great events, new games, and a live service that delivers!

We are looking for an experienced Designer to join our Live Service team in North America

The Role

As a member of the Live Service team, you will be responsible for; the design and creation of Pogo site/in-game events, level updates, challenges, and promotions across Pogo. You will collaborate with the Live Service team around new updates and identify areas of improvement based on previous insights. In this important role, you will report into the Design/Production organization and will have a high level of interaction with team members across Design, Production, Product Management, and Art. You are the Live Service design expert for the studio and focus on delivering player-first updates.

This is a fully remote position.

Key Responsibilities (What you will do)

  • Responsible for the creation, balance, and tuning for Live Service team content updates and events across multiple titles.
  • Review design work from internal team members and external teams and provide feedback.
  • Organize and run internal playtests, collecting feedback and acting on it.
  • Design and oversight for Live Service content updates and events.
  • Collaborate with Live Service lead and external design partners on the execution of content updates.
  • Quality management of external design partners and their deliverables.
  • Oversight and domain owner of Pogo’s Live Service scripting pipeline for events, challenges, promotions, and level updates.
  • Create player facing copy for all Live Service updates.
  • Evaluate player performance analysis of Live Service updates and player feedback; identify opportunities, and lead quality with Live Service leads.
  • Advocate for the player experience.
  • Write concise design documentation.
  • Guide solutions dealing with blocking issues as they arise.

Qualifications (What you know how to do)

  • 2+ years of design experience, with a focus on content creation for live service/casual market.
  • Comprehension of puzzle design strategy for the casual game market.
  • Produce quick prototypes to test designs and share ideas for review.
  • Experience implementing designs in 2D engines such as Cocos, Phaser or Unity.
  • Experience with freemium/F2P design, including MTX, in the casual market.
  • Experience with casual gameplay mechanics/systems and how it works in puzzle design.
  • Familiarity and knowledge with a content management system (WordPress is an example).
  • Fluent in technologies or project tooling necessary for operating live services.
  • Can define which data, settings, rules, and content must be available to the live services model.
  • Experience implementing content in an Agile environment for a live service.
  • Detailed approach to design and authoring.
  • Fluent in interpreting data and drawing meaning about the player experience from it.
  • Readiness to work with a globally distributed development team.
  • Can work from home within a remote workplace.

US COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these states. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location. EA has listed the base salary ranges in good faith and expects to pay applicants for this role in the locations listed as of the time of this posting. Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors, including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.

BASE SALARY RANGES

  • Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs): $89,200 – $118,550
  • Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane): $89,200 – $130,750
  • California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento):$95,450 – $141,800
  • New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo): $89,200 – $141,800
  • Jersey City, NJ:$105,250 – $141,800

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
