PSE’s Resource Planning Analytics team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Load Forecasting Analyst position!

Job Description
PSE’s Load Forecasting team is highly-collaborative and passionate about using big data to forecast how PSE’s customers will use electricity and natural gas in the future as technology and energy policies are changing rapidly. Energy load forecasts provide the foundation for long-term financial planning, responsible energy supply and resource planning, and reliable infrastructure system planning. This is an excellent opportunity to play an integral role within PSE to help us better serve the environment, our customers and the communities in which they live.
We are looking for candidates that have demonstrated strong quantitative skills and have enthusiasm for data, programming, and analysis. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and interest and/or experience presenting insights using data visualization techniques. We seek candidates with superior team and interpersonal skills to help maintain a supportive, productive team environment. Experienced candidates will ideally have a background in utility load forecasting or utility load research.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist senior staff in the development of econometric and statistical forecasting models and analytical frameworks.
- Assist with development and maintenance of input and output databases necessary to perform long-term load forecasting analysis.
- Extract data from various internal and external systems using languages such as R, SQL, and Python.
- Develop code to conduct exploratory analysis, cleanse/massage, or aggregate data, and to automate work processes at the direction of senior staff.
- Create data visualizations to derive meaningful insights.
- Regularly run reports of forecast versus actuals and to track other intelligence.
- Support development of written documents and presentations to help effectively communicate results of research and analyses.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in energy related industry including complex analysis;
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Math, or related field;
- Experience building complex spreadsheets to analyze questions;
- Demonstrated ability to be a supportive team member.
- Solid written, interpersonal, and group communication skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s/PhD degree in economics, statistics, mathematics, finance, engineering, or similar fields.
- Experience in economic or energy-related forecasting, data science, energy efficiency evaluation or related field.
- Knowledge of forecasting and econometric theory and applications.
- Experience performing statistical analysis.
- Demonstrated creative problem solving abilities.
- Experience with databases and using database applications to support analysis.
- Knowledge of energy forecasting tools such as Itron MetrixND/LT and Forecast Manager, LoadSEER, and EViews.
- Experience with SAS, SQL, R, Python or other data analytic programming tools.
- Experience with data visualization and dashboard reporting software such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Experience with SAP BW, SAP HANA, PI.
- Superior Excel spreadsheet skills including development of charts, and familiarity with the other Microsoft applications such as Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, and SharePoint.

The pay range for this position is $73,900.00 – $122,900.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
