Log Sales Manager

Weyerhaeuser has an exciting opportunity for a Log Sales Manager to join our Sales and Marketing team! As a Log Sales Manager, you will be responsible for allocating the Western Timberlands Lower Columbia Region’s fee log production in coordination with raw material purchases to ensure optimum value for Western Timberlands, while providing services and products that create value for our customers. Approximately 50% of work time is spent in the field reviewing harvest plans and working with logging operations, with some of that time walking on steep or broken ground.

This is a full-time, exempt position that reports to the Washington Marketing Manager and is based out of Longview, WA. Salary level will be commensurate with experience.

The Sales and Marketing team is responsible for providing log sales, raw material management, and marketing services to the Western Timberlands and Wood Products operations. The team manages wood flow and allocations to our domestic customers, our international customers through our export facilities, and to Weyerhaeuser’s internal mills in the Pacific Northwest.

Key Functions

  • Serve as a strong advocate for the safety of yourself and others while role modeling our safety values
  • Manage domestic log sales accounts for the Lower Columbia region
  • Utilize a comprehensive understanding of the Lower Columbia Region’s fee production volumes and product mix to allocate production and maximize value for Weyerhaeuser
  • Contribute to Western Timberlands Operational Excellence (OpX) efforts by focusing on value creation across all aspects of our supply chain
  • Collaborate with Western Timberlands operations by communicating unit cutting, sorting, and delivering instructions
  • Oversee monthly forecasts to ensure customer commitments are met
  • Work effectively as a member of marketing and operations teams
  • Contribute to the organization’s inclusive and innovative culture
  • Manage complex client and customer accounts independently with minimal direction

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree (or higher) in related field from an accredited university OR equivalent professional experience
  • At least 10 years of relatable professional experience
  • A highly motivated, creative and self-directed team player
  • Ability to proactively work across teams and business units and inspired to work with people
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and analytical skills
  • Solid ability and experience in business negotiations
  • Strong skills in use of personal computers and related software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the desire for continued learning
  • Understands how to work with customers to determine what they value and help them find solutions
  • Current driver’s license is required, as work involves driving company vehicles on rough roads (25,000 miles per year)
  • Willing and able to occasionally work weekends, should business needs require

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $93K – $138K based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 10% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement: Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our annual contribution equal to 5% of your base salary.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours
