Weyerhaeuser’s log yard facility in Cottageville, South Carolina has an opening for a Scalehouse Operator. This position will serve as a member of the flow-to-work log yard team, primarily working in the scalehouse, but also participating in various log yard activities, and contributing to a safe and efficient working environment.
This is a full-time hourly day shift position reporting to the Export Yard Manager.
We are targeting a pay range of $20.00 – $25.00 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401k plans, vacation, and holidays.
This position is eligible for a $1500 sign-on bonus. Details on payout are made available at the time of offer.
Key Functions:
- Committed to work safely and adhere to log yard safety procedures
- Maintain good housekeeping practices in the scalehouse and yard, performing miscellaneous cleanup as required
- Collaborate with team members, as well as work independently
- Prioritize work schedule, work under pressure, and perform overtime duties as needed
- Attach any required paperwork and/or painting on log loads
- Maintain inventory of stock material
- Interfaces with contract trucking staff on a daily basis. Ensure that truck drivers have all PPE and are aware of site policies
- Maintain open communications (CB) with other operators and truck drivers
- Visually/physically check logs against specs and ensure accuracy of load information input
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- One to two years’ scalehouse experience, including maintaining a ledger
- Strong computer skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Demonstrated adherence to safety practices
- Solid work history, including work in an industrial environment
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check
Preferred:
- One to two years’ “log yard” scalehouse experience, including maintaining a ledger
- Knowledge of SAP & WeighWiz
- Accounting background
- Knowledge of raw materials/log yards
