The Opportunity

As the Logistics Specialist you are responsible for the logistics and fulfillment of material requirements, and delivery to the various field offices of the project. Under the supervision of the PMI Evolve Procurement Manager, this position will monitor and manage the inventory, shipment, and delivery of commodities following all relevant USAID and Abt Associates policies and procedures.

The PMI Evolve Project supports the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) and USAID to plan and implement an integrated vector control strategy with the overall goal of reducing the burden of malaria while promoting equity to sustain malaria gains. Abt has implemented integrated vector control for PMI since 2011, delivering high-quality indoor residual spraying (IRS), technical assistance for insecticide-treated net (ITN) distribution and durability monitoring, and new approaches for larval source management (LSM). Additionally, Abt’s PMI-funded work manages the most comprehensive malaria vector entomological surveillance programs in 20 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and Cambodia to inform malaria vector control trends, strategies, and impact. Under the PMI Evolve Project, Abt will further its delivery of integrated vector control programs by partnering with local communities, organizations, and governments to co-design and co-implement tailored malaria vector control programs. The end goal is fighting malaria while strengthening local capacity to sustain malaria gains.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide core logistical support for PMI Evolve project material fulfillment activities.
  • Assist with processing of receiving transactions at multiple warehouses and destinations.
  • Review purchase order and inventory status, expedite past due orders.
  • Distribute material status reports on a weekly basis
  • Document and report Key Process Indicators (KPI’s) for the Procurement and Logistics processes.
  • Work with the shipping partners to execute timely delivery of goods to the final in-country destinations.
  • Track expected delivery dates of equipment and deliveries of equipment/supplies.
  • Work with site office teams and assist with documentation needed for customs clearing.
  • Maintain and update item master pricing lists in Oracle.

What We Value

  • Bachelor’s Degree + 5 years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree + 2 years of relevant experience, or PhD + 0 years of relevant experience.
  • Effective English oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Experience in International Logistics, Procurement, Supply Chain, or other relevant field.
  • Experience in the areas of international non-profit, NGO, public health, and or disaster recovery preferred.
  • Experience with USAID-funded development programs preferred. Thorough knowledge of Federal and USAID Acquisition Regulations (FARs and AIDARs) is helpful.
  • Excellent management, organizational, computer, and writing skills.
  • Knowledge of French is highly desired.

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of approximately $65,000 to $91,150, and may vary by ten percent depending on candidate geographic location. Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis.
