Dane County Alliant Energy Center is recruiting for a Limited Term Employee (LTE) Electrician.

Must be available nights, weekends and holidays as required by Alliant Energy Center events and emergency situations.

Limited Term Employees (LTE’s) are limited to 1,200 hours in a payroll year and are not guaranteed any hours per week.

DEFINITION

Under general direction at Alliant Energy Center to perform skilled electrical work in constructing, installing, maintaining, repairing, operating and inspecting various electrical wiring systems, provide temporary electrical connections as required by events, electrical controls, electrical machinery and electrical equipment in buildings and/or grounds; to perform skilled preventive maintenance and repair work on a variety of building maintenance systems; and to do related work as required.

Education, Experience & Special Requirements

Education, Training and Experience:

Any combination of training and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and completion of a five (5) year accredited apprenticeship program for Electricians. Preference will be given for management, cost control and public relations training and experience.

The Alliant Energy Center requires a Journeyman Electrician Certification by an appropriate authority. Must be able and willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a routine basis. Must be able and willing to work longer than an 8 hour shift based the Center’s activity level and Event requirements.

Special Requirements:

Some positions will work a significant number of nights, weekends and holidays. Possession of a Class B Maintenance Electrical license and a valid Wisconsin driver’s license (or eligibility for). A valid Wisconsin Commercial Driver’s License Class “A” may be required for some positions. Will be required to supply personal small hand tools.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in installing and repairing electrical wiring systems, paging and sound systems, controls and electrical machinery and equipment in buildings; knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in installing and repairing communications systems; knowledge of the provisions of the National Electrical Code and of the pertinent City, County or State inspection and safety requirements; ability to diagnose and correct electrical power, lighting or communications failures; ability to do field or shop repair of electrical equipment; ability to handle electrical power requirements up to and over 440 volts; ability to read and interpret technical blueprints of electrical and electronic circuitry and the ability to work independently. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted and heavier loads with assistance. Must be able to work at heights in excess of 50 feet for sustained periods of time.

The electricians are in direct contact on a regular basis with the vendors requesting power to their booths.
