Introduction

The Prince William County Department of Public Works Construction and Operations Division is looking for a reliable, hard working person to join our Construction Services Branch. The Construction Services Branch is required to maintain the Drainage Infrastructure of the County.
The Drainage Section of the construction branch is vital to the lives of Prince William County to maintain our functioning drainage infrastructure as without it, houses and streets would flood, and our rivers and streams would be destroyed. Construction Services Branch employees are considered essential personnel and will be required to provide support during inclement weather and emergency related events. Overtime would be very limited with this position; eligible candidates must possess a Valid Virginia Driver’s License. All candidates selected for hire must pass a preemployment health physical, driving record eligibility, and employment verification.
ABOUT THIS ROLE:
• Key element to a team with 1,000+ Stormwater Ponds and 653 Miles of Stormwater Easement to maintain.
• Operates and maintains assigned equipment and tools; performs inspections to ensure safe operating conditions; performs routine repairs and/or replacement of parts; cleans and performs preventative maintenance; and monitors need for replacement or advanced repairs.

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:
Normal work week is Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:00pm, with a 7.5-hour workday and a half-hour lunch, total of 8.0 hour day. Some Saturday work will be required to support other crews and projects. This position is considered essential and could require providing support during inclement weather and emergency related events
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Valid Virginia Driver’s License;
• May require a CDL License or the ability to obtain one, to include alcohol and controlled substances tests per Federal Transit Administration Mandate Title 49 Transportation §382.Subpart C, if applicable to the position;
• Must pass Pre-Employment Physical
• Must be at least 18 years of age to perform duties which involve handling, applying or otherwise working with hazardous materials:
• May be required to be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds regularly; up to 80 pounds occasionally; and up to 125 pounds as applicable;
• May be required to respond to emergencies after normal working hours, as needed;
• Outdoor work environment (Exposed to plants, insects, severe weather, hot/cold temperatures)
ENTRY SALARY RANGE: $18.94/hr- $24.00/hr
