Maintenance Assistant – $500 Sign on Bonus

DESCRIPTION:

Full time Maintenance Assistant with availability to float between Rogerson Communities properties. Individual will be responsible for ensuring that facilities are clean and in good operating condition.

$18 hourly

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for assisting the Rogerson Facilities Department in the operation of general maintenance of the 1) Adult Day Health Programs at both Egleston and Roslindale locations, 2) the main Rogerson Administration Office, and 3) as a floating maintenance assistant at the discretion of the Rogerson Facilities Department consisting of the Facilities Manager, Director of Facilities, VP R.E. Construction and Design herein called the Department. Duties include but are not limited to the general upkeep and appearance of the interior and exterior of the buildings, maintenance, and repairs of the building components (less HVAC maintenance which is contracted out), office set ups – including turnovers, furniture assembly and placement, and other general duties as directed by the Department. Duties also include trash pick-up/removal, and snow removal. The Maintenance Assistant will also assist with minor repairs with supervision from the Department and neighboring Roslindale House Property Maintenance Manager and will be responsible for organizing his/her work in order to ensure it is being accomplished in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sensitivity to issues of aging and ability to work well with a senior population.
  • Ability to follow written and spoken instructions in English.
  • Ability to work as a team player, promoting good relations with co-workers and residents/participants.
  • Ability to be flexible with work assignments, multiple departments, and schedule changes.
  • Awareness of safety and security issues.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and organizational skills.
  • At least 1 year of satisfactory employment in housekeeping/maintenance.
  • Experience using and maintaining floor equipment.
  • Experience with carpet extraction and maintenance, VCT floor maintenance, etc.
  • Ability to carry out a cleaning and maintenance schedule without close supervision.
  • Some understanding of building environmental systems and operations.
  • Ability to access all areas of the property, including stairwells.
  • Ability to do heavy lifting and the operation of equipment that may be physically
  • Able to lift and transfer up to 75 lbs. without stress or injury.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • General maintenance and cleaning of the buildings and grounds.
  • Maintenance and safe operation of cleaning equipment, outdoor equipment, snow blowers, etc. Able to recognize and report problems with equipment operation.
  • Work closely with the Department to monitor contract cleaning company, check and report on vendor responsibilities under contract requirements for work.
  • Maintain a high standard of safety, appearance, and cleanliness at all times.
  • When requested by Department perform cleaning duties as well as floor stripping and waxing, carpet shampooing and extraction and other maintenance procedures as needed.
  • Communicate well with other staff to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Maintain the “Open for Business” program. This program involves walking the facility and recording all deficiencies so they can be turned into work orders and or drive changes to the Environment of Care (EOC).
  • Complete assigned work orders in a timely manner.
  • Monitor supply inventories and report needs to Department.
  • Perform light maintenance duties including light bulb and ballast replacement, basic plumbing, and electrical repairs, as directed by the Department.
  • Complete cleaning and minor repairs of the spaces within the buildings for turnovers in a timely manner and occasional maintenance such as wall patching and sanding, painting, acoustic ceiling tile replacement, and other cosmetic repairs.
  • Perform other duties and functions as assigned.
