Maintenance Custodian

SUMMARY:

To perform unskilled or semi-skilled labor for the Maintenance Department. To maintain and assist in the repairs of building and grounds. To maintain the cleanliness and orderly condition of the Green Lake County Government Center.

STARTING HOURLY WAGE: $15.16-$18.95

SHIFT: Monday through Friday, Second Shift

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • 10% of the time is spent on stripping, buffing, waxing and washing floors, and vacuuming carpets
  • 85% maintaining cleanliness in all areas of the County buildings
  • 5% of the time setting up for meetings and other events.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Basic everyday living skills, the ability to understand verbal and written instructions, active listening skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently, the ability to read, write, add, and subtract. Must be able to work a flexible 40 hours per week.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: High school diploma

EXPERIENCE / JOB KNOWLEDGE: Driver’s license is required; custodial experience is preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS: The person spends about 95% indoors, the balance of the time is spent outdoors in all types of weather conditions and 5% in hazardous conditions.

EQUIPMENT USED WHILE PERFORMING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Telephone, hand and power tools, floor buffer, stripper, material handling equipment, trucks, automobiles, ladders, scaffolding, hearing and eye protection.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • 65% if the time is standing and walking
  • 25% of the time is stooping, bending, twisting, talking
  • 10% of the time is spent kneeling, climbing, crawling, crouching, and carrying. In non-routine situations it may be necessary to lift up to and carry 100 pounds.
