Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-Greater New York) is an anti-poverty organization working to end homelessness in the New York area by 2050. We operate over 60 programs across New York City, Northern New Jersey and Westchester County including emergency, transitional and permanent housing. Our services extend to families experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, people living with HIV/AIDS, veterans, youth aging out of foster care, adults with behavioral health or substance use needs, and others in need, including a special education preschool program.

Position: Maintenance Facilities Assistant Manager

The Maintenance Facilities Assistant Manager assists the Assistant Director of Facilities in the overall operations of the department, including housekeeping and repairs and improvements to the division’s buildings and grounds.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma and three years of experience in buildings and grounds maintenance, with at least one-year supervisory experience. Site-specific certifications may be required.

Maintenance Facilities Assistant Manager Principal Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in managing the facilities function and staff including janitorial, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, preventive maintenance, and the work order system.
  2. Where possible make necessary repairs consisting of plumbing, light electrical, carpentry, painting, and other related maintenance activities to maintain properties.
  3. Manage housekeeping function and staff to include training (OSHA regulations), task scheduling, and supervision.
  4. Assist in purchasing and inventory control related to supplies and equipment and outside vendors.
  5. Assists in managing contractor and sub-contractor on projects.
  6. Preforms fall and spring HVAC system start-ups at program sites.
  7. Supervises assigned staff.
