Job Description
Summary
The Manager of Emergency Services is responsible for ongoing development and implementation of theme park and city walk emergency response and recovery programs, policies, and supporting programs and processes, and leads the implementation of the Business Continuity and Crisis Management Plan. This role collaborates regularly with key internal stakeholders from other business units, such as Security, NBCU Business Continuity & Crisis Management, Human Resources, Operations, and others, as well as with external business partners from the Fire Department or other response agencies. This role leads programs and delivers training, such as the evacuations, first-aid, CPR/AED and partners with the Studio Emergency Services team on provision of Disaster Volunteer programs. The Manager of Emergency Services coordinates procurement of and makes available emergency supplies and equipment to augment existing business capabilities. This role plays an active part in the crisis communication plan and coordinates use of the company emergency notification system. The Manager of Emergency Services drives organizational-wide awareness to the importance of emergency preparedness, both at work and at home, and actively develops and delivers training programs and coordinates drills and exercises to keep skills and plans top of mind and a living part of the safety culture at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Responsibilities
- Provides hands-on, tactical support to the business in the event of a significant incident.
- Develops plans, procedures, and policies to support business response and recovery to emergency events.
- Creates an emergency exercise plan over a 3-year rotation period and leads the execution drills, exercises, and associated activities.
- Evaluates facility risk for emergency incidents and develops plans accordingly to mitigate and recover from incidents.
- Designs and facilitates training on emergency/crisis management topics educating Team Members and Leadership on response and recovery plans, including the Incident Command system for management.
- This includes facilitation of first-aid, CPR and AED training.
- Creates training content and communications on the topic of emergency preparedness.
- Establish active, working relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally.
- Develop and perform tests and evaluations of emergency management plans.
- Keep informed of activities or changes to the business that could affect the likelihood of an emergency, as well as those that could affect response efforts and details of plan implementation.
- Keep informed of federal, state and local regulations requirements pertaining to emergency preparedness and propose programs and plans to keep the company in compliance.
- Seek new technology that may support response and recovery operations.
- Conduct post incident reviews and provide recommendation for improvement based upon lessons learned.
- Maintain emergency equipment and supplies and grow inventories to support business operations.
- Act as public agency liaison during crisis situations and business liasion to corporate partners at NBCU.
Qualifications
Qualifications/Requirements
- Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) preferred
- 5-7 years of emergency management/team leadership experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certified First-aid/CPR/AED Instructor
- FEMA CERT instructor is a plus
- Confident public speaker and trainer
- On site and available to respond to an operation that runs 365/year, nights, weekends and holidays
- Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
