Maintenance Planner II

The Maintenance Planner II will support ENGIE Asset Optimization at the Combined Heat and Power Plant located at the University of Maryland. This is a technical role that also encompasses customer facing responsibilities. This position is located in, College Park, MD and reports directly to the Plant Manager.

What you’ll do:

  • Plans, schedules, and provides overall supervision for maintenance work related to mechanical and electrical equipment and piping systems including, but not limited to, turbines, generators, pumps, motors, compressors, valves, electrical controls and high voltage circuit breakers.
  • Initiates immediate repairs resulting from forced outages; communicates status to plant chain of command.
  • Oversees and coordinates activities of the Mechanical Maintenance department in compliance with applicable labor agreements and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Assist in planning, developing, and scheduling major maintenance activities including overhauls, replacements and installations.
  • Coordinates maintenance activities with other station sections and support personnel.
  • Responds to emergency or unanticipated electrical or mechanical maintenance requirements outside work hours.
  • Responsible for arranging on-the-job training of maintenance personnel in accordance with established programs.
  • Approve maintenance activities within Mechanical Maintenance. Recommend action on maintenance personnel matters.
  • Working with the Maintenance Manager, coordinates activities of the Maintenance department in compliance with and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates maintenance activities with Operations, contractors and support personnel.
  • Reviews and evaluates the need for tools, parts and materials for maintenance work. Insures parts are ordered in time for each task.
  • Responsible for tracking maintenance activities within the automated work management software and produce reports as needed.
  • Manage the preventive maintenance program and make sure PM work orders are generated at the proper times.
  • Coordinate the inventory management system to make sure parts are entered correctly and checked out to the assigned work orders.
  • Must participate in mandatory training and other programs.
  • Carries out other duties as assigned

What you bring:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (preferred) and five (5) or more years of relevant experience
  • Five (5) years of experience as an electrical and/or maintenance supervisor
  • Must have demonstrated technical ability in the operation and maintenance of industrial systems.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of power generation, power generation equipment and technology.

  • Required to wear personal protective equipment
  • Requires individual with a high degree of professionalism; ability to work well independently, and effectively with others.
  • Thorough knowledge of all plant systems and understanding of process diagrams, simple electrical diagrams and operating instructions.
  • Extensive knowledge in the installation of mechanical and electrical equipment in a generating and steam production station.
  • Knowledge of maintenance requirements for gas turbines, steam turbines, boilers and chiller equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to use analytical judgment to plan and perform diversified work, making decisions within prescribed limitations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and take direction from others.
  • Successful candidate will also be detail oriented, able to take direction and handle multiple tasks, prioritize work effectively, and see a work project through to completion.
  • Proficient in Lock-out/Tag-out Electronic Tag System (LOTO ETS) Program.
  • The ability to gain a strong understanding and manage effective utilization of the company Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), MAXIMO Maintenance System is required.

  • Salary Range: $62,305 – $153,920 USD annually
  • Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
  • In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan
