Overview
SRI International, within the Central Utilities Plant in Princeton, NJ, needs a Maintenance Technician/Boiler Operator with a NJ Black Seal license to work with a team to support all building maintenance and operations for our large campus of buildings. While complying with State Operating Permits, this role will help keep SRI in business 24 hours a day. Rotational shifts, on site, in a team atmosphere, with training on SRI processes and systems, overtime too…this is a terrific opportunity!
Responsibilities
- Operate boilers, chillers, compressors and other central utility equipment
- Operate, inspect, and monitor electrical and mechanical equipment
- Take readings and report operating data on log sheets and in shift reports
- Trouble shoot major and minor repairs, and adjustments and calibrations to all equipment including cleaning/repairing boilers
- Provide input for proper inventory levels for materials, spare parts and equipment
- Operate the computerized Energy Management System
- Utilize a computerized maintenance management system
- Ability to adhere to EPA regulations
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED or equivalency required
- Technical school preferred
- US Citizen or US Permanent Residency required
- NJ Black Seal Boiler license
- Must be able to work rotating shift and also requires working some weekends and holidays
- 2+ years’ experience working as Boiler Operator or Mechanic or related
- Must be able to maintain, calibrate, repair, troubleshoot central plant equipment
Working Conditions:
- Be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Be able to climb ladders up to 32′ max height
- Be able to kneel and crouch and work in confined space (e.g. manholes and tanks)
- Wear a respirator (must pass pulmonary test )
- Work indoors or outdoors
- Wear P+E (raingear, safety toe boots, gloves, rubber boot, etc…)
- Work over head (arms over head)
The hourly range is: $28.35-$37.57 ($58,968-$78,146/year approximately). Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles.
