General Statement of Duties
Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a person for a part-time position as a Maintenance Technician I for HorizonsPark. This is a great opportunity to work within the Parks and Recreation field in a pleasing outdoor environment.
Duties include preparing the ball fields, cleaning restrooms, mulching, cleaning shelter, frequent contact with the public and performing various projects using a variety of equipment including tractors, blowers and various hand held power tools.
Candidate must be able to work independently and with limited supervision. This position has regular public contact.
Work Schedule:
Sunday – Tuesday 8 hours per day
During Winter months: Sunday – Tuesday 5 hours per day

Distinguishing Features
A qualified candidate:
Must have the ability to operate and care for a variety of power equipment and hand tools.
Ability to inspect and report needs for repairs.
Have the knowledge of minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs necessary to maintain park structures.
Be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public.
Ability to maintain order and ensure compliance with rules.
Safety is top priority at the park.
Minimum Education and Experience
Graduation from High School or GED and one year experience in basic building or grounds maintenance work.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Previous customer service experience is a plus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Makes minor repairs to park equipment.
Inspect park for hazardous conditions and report the same.
Performs routine grounds maintenance such as weed-eating and blowing leaves from parking lot, picnic or playground area.
Spreads mulch, sand and gravel at picnic shelters.
Cleans picnic shelters and other outdoor rental facilities.
Removes all trash from park grounds.
Maintains order and ensures compliance with park rules.
Provides information to park patrons regarding rules and regulations.
Performs related work as required.
