Maintenance Technician – Lead
About the Position
CABVI is seeking to fill a Maintenance Technician – Lead position. This is a full-time position in a union environment. The Maintenance Technician Lead position has responsibility for leading the maintenance and set-up of production machinery for the Industries Program. This role is also responsible for facilities maintenance and repair projects. This position reports to the Manufacturing Operations Manager. The pay rate for this position is $32.00/hour. This rate is set by a contract and is not negotiable. The principal responsibilities for this position include:
- Leads Maintenance projects involved in the repair and rebuild of manufacturing equipment, manufacturing equipment installations and relocation, and floorspace layout optimization. Duties also include providing support for the procurement and installation of all hardware required for material storage, material transportation and manufacturing cell layouts (Ex: Storage Racking, Material Transport Carts, Tables, etc).
- Leads efficient and accurate machine changeover on manufacturing equipment as assigned. Performs precise adjustments of settings requiring the use of measurement and calibration tools.
- Leads efficient repairs and effective troubleshooting on manufacturing equipment as necessary to ensure minimal downtime.
- Completes preventive maintenance servicing on manufacturing equipment per schedules provided by equipment manufacturers and as assigned.
- Maintains training in, and abides by, OSHA Safety compliance procedures in all related job duties. Maintains Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), HazMat, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and other OSHA related documents. Implements safety procedures and addresses safety requirements to ensure that the facilities, manufacturing equipment, and operations meet OSHA standards.
- Assists with facilities projects and building maintenance/repairs as needed. These include, but are not limited to, painting, minor electrical work, room set-up, and plumbing.
- Ability to perform changeover on the following machines: FEBA 1, FEBA 2, Burris, SIAT, Dusenbery, Hamilton Press, L-Seal Wrappers, Axon Wrapper and any new Equipment Purchased.
- Provides leadership in identifying and working with service providers and parts suppliers required to support manufacturing equipment operation, procurement of spare parts, and assigned projects. Efforts include, but are not limited to: Placement of purchase orders, scheduling of work to be performed, follow-up on status of delivery deadlines, etc
- Performs other tasks, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: (including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, licenses, certifications, and other characteristics)
- Mechanical repair and setup experience on Industrial Equipment is required, along with proficient knowledge of CNC and servomechanisms.
- The ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical drive components, diagnose and correct mechanical failures, and perform basic electrical testing is required.
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements and procedures for MSDS, LOTO, and HazMat
- Prior experience in a Manufacturing Facility is required.
- Ability to drive a forklift.
- Ability to work independently.
- Positive attitude and sense of humor a must
Physical Demands:
- Ability to independently lift 75 lbs. regularly.
- Visual acuity to inspect and repair machine components and utilize precision measurement and calibration tools.
- Ability to move throughout the facility and production areas.
Work Environment:
- Indoor, climate-controlled, industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to high levels of noise. Frequent exposure to dust, dirt, oils, cleaning fluids, blades, and other hazardous materials. May require outdoor exposure to weather elements including heat, cold, and precipitation.
- In accordance with CABVI’s Hearing Conservation Program and OSHA’s standards for the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), approved hearing protection must be worn at all times while in the tape and paper room with the exception of break and meal periods.
- This position may require working outside of normal operational hours and during shut down periods.
