Dependent upon assignment, duties include repairing and maintaining street infrastructure, setting up safety and traffic control systems for repair work, using basic equipment to perform repairs (e.g. jackhammer, rakes, and/or shovels), serving as a flagger to direct traffic around work zones, and removing refuse and debris from rights-of-way, medians and embankments; or performing general street maintenance, concrete sawing and pouring, and asphalt patching and mudjacking. Duties may also include cleaning, servicing and maintaining assigned tools, machinery, equipment and vehicles. Six months of related experience; the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance; and a valid Class C Texas driver’s license required. To be hired at the higher pay range, must have one year of related experience and a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). If not presently in possession of this license, as a condition of continued employment, must obtain Class A Texas CDL within a specified timeframe. Normal hours are Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., but schedule will include some after-hours, weekends and holidays; also need to be available for emergency call-outs after normal hours.

    documented attendance or disciplinary issues will receive an additional one-time payment of $1000.
  • The maximum amount of hiring incentive that an individual employee may receive is $3,000.
