Position Information
The purpose of this classification is to perform general maintenance work involving athletic field maintenance and/or grounds maintenance in the Parks & Recreation Department (Maintenance Division). This is a seasonal position.
Job Summary
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Maintains park grounds, athletic fields, recreational facilities and related facilities.
Mows and edges park grounds, baseball/softball fields and football/soccer fields.
Drags and grooms baseball/softball fields.
Measures, marks, lays out and paints playing fields; paints foul lines and foul poles.
Repairs pitching rubbers, home plates and bases.
Maintains infield areas by removing rocks, shifting/adding dirt or filling in low areas; applies infield conditioner; and waters grounds.
Disposes of litter and removes debris from grounds; cuts down trees/shrubs; burns tree limbs and debris.
Monitors and inspects park facilities to identify problems, needed repairs, or other situations requiring attention, such as vandalism, inoperative lighting, or broken sprinkler heads; reports problem situations to supervisor.
Assists with setup of summer camps, or other parks/recreational activities.
Operates a variety of machinery and tools associated with projects and work activities, which may include utility vehicle, field drag, weed eater, edger, leaf blower, paint machine, shovel, rake, various janitorial and hand tools.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
This classification is designated as a safety sensitive position which is subject to random drug and alcohol testing and any other drug testing methods as stated in policies adopted by Forsyth County concerning drug and alcohol.

Provides assistance to other employees or departments as needed.
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be 16 years or older (in order to operate equipment); ability to perform all essential position functions; must be able to communicate effectively with the public and co-workers; must be neatly groomed and be willing to wear and maintain county-issued clothing; must be willing to work in a variety of weather conditions; must be punctual and present on all scheduled days. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
Seasonal employees are not eligible for benefits.
