Major Account Manager – Commodity Sales MRF

I. Job Summary
The Major Account Manager will manage the Sales and Marketing responsibilities of WM MRF-s (Material Recovery Facilities) as well all third party accounts included in ones designated geography. Additionally, new business targets will be established and reviewed on an ongoing basis.

The Major Account Manager is responsible for managing existing WM Recycling business relationships in order to achieve budgeted sales goals by developing and implementing sound retention strategies, utilizing strong negotiation efforts to preserve business, and securing contract agreements from previously non-contracted customers. There is a strong emphasis on maximizing price on existing MRF and third party volumes as well as developing profitable new third party business.

This is a field-based position eligible to participate in sales compensation and recognition programs upon successful completion of sales orientation and/or training programs.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned and may vary by location and rotation.

Establish and maintain a high level of internal and external customer satisfaction, both Vendor and Customer based. Communicate to and work with the Market Area Sales Manager to resolve unique customer issues.

Effectively manage prospects by developing sound marketing plans and maintaining key information in the prospect database.

Meet or exceed sales call activity goals for proactive account retention.

Monitor and responsible at all times for – volumes, pricing, margins, visitation schedule, and new business leads with the goal of growing volume and margin.

Maintain sales pipeline to achieve goals for new sales.

Match Waste Management services with customer needs by demonstrating knowledge of customers, pricing and competition; effectively communicate pricing and service strategies; proactively engage other Waste

Management business opportunities, referring internally as appropriate.

Effectively use Waste Management sales productivity software tools (i.e. Prospect & Customer Database, Proposal Program, Pricing Tools, etc.) to integrate and cross sell opportunities.

Update and secure customer service agreements.

Develop and implement strategic objectives of assigned geography in conjunction with organizational goals.

Using in depth industry and company knowledge, prepare complex proposals and make recommendations on equipment optimization and leasing options.

Propose customer solutions that are compliant with appropriate local, state and federal regulations.

IV. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

A. Education and Experience

Education: Bachelor’s Degree (accredited) in Business or related field, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience.

Experience: 5 years of relevant work experience in progressive and successful business-to-business sales (in addition to education requirement).

The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 – $110,000. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
