DESCRIPTION
Working under general supervision, the Mammography Tech performs screening and diagnostic breast imaging procedures, as well as interventional breast imaging procedures. Responsible for operational effectiveness in Breast Imaging area with attention to patient flow, customer service, equipment oversight, and quality control guidelines. Collaborates with the radiologists regarding clinical imaging and associated protocols. Maintains continuing education specific to Breast Imaging. Demonstrates and applies knowledge of principles of radiation safety.
Works closely with the Radiation Physicist to ensure the equipment meets all radiation standards set forth by law. Demonstrates skills and knowledge via competency exams in all Breast Imaging procedures. Must follow Radiology Imaging protocols and policies. Possesses good communication skills, both verbal and written. Interacts with service representatives and vendors to ensure timely maintenance is performed and contacts appropriate persons when equipment needs to be serviced.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of a school of radiologic technology.
- California Radiology Technologist Mammography (CRT-M).
- BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
- Knowledge of radiologic computer systems and applications.
- Understanding of various systems to include Picture Archival Computer System (PACS), Radiology Information System (RIS) and all aspects of Digital Mammography.
- Working knowledge of Electronic Medical Records, Mammography Reporting System and electronic communication.
- Possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
- Complete certification training program for Mammographic Technologist required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- At least one (1) year of experience as a Mammography Technologist.
- Registered Technologist for Mammography issued by ARRT (R.T (M) (ARRT)).
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including some overtime if necessary for unexpected staffing issues and at both UCSD campuses as needed.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $105,611 – $131,335 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $50.58 – $62.90
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
