Position Summary

The Manager, Advancement & Campaign Communications is a collaborative team player who manages and executes a wide range of communications projects and deliverables that inspire robust engagement and strong philanthropic support for the University of Denver.

Reporting to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Advancement & Campaign Communications (A&CC) and working closely with A&CC team leadership to support executing deliverables that advance strategic priorities, the Manager, Advancement and Campaign Communications is a creative, strategic, and enthusiastic marketing and communications generalist.

Essential Functions

Supports communications strategies by coordinating processes and providing robust project management for the A&CC team:

  • Manages updating, tracking and reporting on a robust calendar of communication deliverables across multiple teams and units.
  • Manages timelines, building and coordination of specialized newsletters and strategic communications in support of DUs ambitious philanthropic campaign.
  • Designs and delivers A&CC reporting timeline, structure and content to measure effectiveness and ROI of team activities.

Provides support for A&CC marketing and communications efforts:

  • Builds marketing and communication vehicles utilizing DU’s email, web, social media and storytelling platforms, manages list production, tracks and evaluates campaign performance to help with recommendations for future iterations.
  • Supports video and photo shoots, stakeholder meetings, research and research interviews, story development and other assigned tasks that support team goals.
  • Builds and maintains messaging toolkits and libraries of communications materials for advancement team members.
  • Oversees asset management for the A&CC team, ensuring materials are appropriately stored, catalogued and easily accessible.
  • Writes and edits compelling long and short form copy as needed

  • Serves as an active and collaborative partner to all central and unit-based Advancement staff and other campus colleagues, to foster strategic, effective, and collaborative advancement practices.
  • Models “One DU” leadership.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and customer experience skills
  • Experience with a variety of content delivery platforms and website content management
  • Experience building and editing communications across a variety of media, with a willingness to continually learn and improve
  • Understanding of strategic marketing and communications and ability to translate into tactical deliverables
  • Strong cross-channel writer and proofreader with a strong grasp of spelling and grammar
  • Well-developed research skills and the ability to gather, synthesize and report information
  • Facile technology user with experience working with project management tools, and the ability to learn new platforms quickly

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education or work experience
  • Two years of marketing and communications experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g. Asana, Wrike, etc),
  • Experience Adobe Suite products, CMS and CRM tools
  • Experience with digital asset management tools
  • Relevant experience in a university setting or similarly complex non-profit environment

Working Environment

  • Standard open office environment.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.
  • Eligible for hybrid work.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs. with assistance.

Work Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; some nights and weekends as required

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 9.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $50,000-$60,000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
