Manager – Applied Data Science, AWS Central Economics

AWS Central Economics is hiring a science manager for our customer level insights and predictions team (CLIP). CLIP develops state of the art Machine Learning models that AWS sales teams use to prioritize their time.

CLIP’s team members work with time series, tabular, and customer-product choice data. We partner with science and sales operations teams across AWS to create what one of the sales team leaders referred to “the rudder that guides our team’s efforts”.

The science manager leads the team of data scientists and collaborates with product managers and data engineers. They own the team’s overall deliverables, develop and support our scientists, and coordinate with leaders of our partner teams.

Key job responsibilities

– Develop and hire top performing ML experts

– Own and validate KPIs to measure model quality and impact at scale

– Prioritize workstreams to maximize impact

– Coordinate and collaborate with leaders of our internal customers and partners

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– 5+ years of building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application experience

– 2+ years of scientists or machine learning engineers management experience

– Knowledge of machine learning approaches and algorithms

– Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs

– Master’s degree

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– Experience building complex software systems, especially involving deep learning, machine learning and computer vision, that have been successfully delivered to customers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $147,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $286,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
