Dow Jones is seeking a Manager of Audience Monetization to join our Performance Marketing team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of driving organic reach and audience growth for Dow Jones media properties, including The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, and MarketWatch. Working collaboratively with teams across the organization, including Product, Advertising, Partnerships, and the Newsroom, you will identify and implement robust audience development strategies that align with our business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Paywall Strategy: Develop and execute effective paywall strategies that strike a balance between audience access and revenue generation, driving the monetization of our media properties.
  • Audience Test & Learn Program: Implement a structured test and learn approach to understand audience behavior, preferences, and optimize engagement and monetization efforts accordingly.
  • Funnel Optimization: Analyze the user journey to identify and implement improvements throughout the audience funnel, from awareness to conversion, ensuring seamless user experiences.
  • Advertising Partnerships: Establish and manage strategic partnerships with external organizations, platforms, and influencers to expand the reach and visibility of Dow Jones media properties. Negotiate partnerships that align with audience development goals and enhance brand positioning.
  • Off-platform Subscription Strategy: Develop and execute strategies to promote off-platform subscription opportunities, tapping into new audiences and expanding our subscriber base.
  • AB Testing Tools for Audience: Utilize AB testing tools and methodologies to experiment with audience engagement tactics and optimize conversion rates.
  • First-party Data Strategy: Leverage first-party data to inform audience segmentation, personalized content experiences, and targeted marketing campaigns.
  • Content Optimization and Distribution: Analyze audience insights and engagement metrics to optimize content distribution strategies and channels. Collaborate with the Newsroom and Product teams to develop and execute content strategies that resonate with target audiences.
  • Performance Tracking and Reporting: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of audience monetization initiatives. Provide regular reporting and actionable insights to stakeholders, highlighting progress and recommending optimizations for improved results.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in audience development, digital marketing, or a related role within the media or publishing industry.
  • Proven track record of driving audience growth, engagement, and monetization through strategic initiatives and partnerships.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing principles, content distribution strategies, and audience segmentation.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and derive actionable insights.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including Product and Newsroom, to execute audience monetization strategies.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and stakeholders concurrently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence key stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the media landscape, including emerging trends and platforms, is highly desirable.
  • Passion for journalism, news, and staying informed about current events.

Pay Range: $65,000 – $200,000
