JOB DESCRIPTION

FOX Corporations is looking for a Manager, Broadcast Standards & Practices to join our team in Los Angeles, CA. The Manager is responsible for the careful review of drama, comedy, reality, competition/game show, sports and live programming in accordance with FCC regulations and FOX network guidelines. The Manager may supervise personnel and/or specific areas of expertise within the department, and performs duties under minimal supervision by the Director, Broadcast Standards and the VP, Broadcast Standards. The Manager will be trained in all areas of program review and in advertising and marketing, as needed, to be able to serve in primary and back-up roles in all areas.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct the review of assigned comedy, drama, reality, competition/game show and sports programming
  • Review and evaluate scripts, table reads, run-throughs, dailies, rough-cuts, tapings and final cuts
  • Judge acceptability of program content, effectively communicate any necessary edits or concerns to internal and external entities
  • Monitor game shows and competition shows for fairness and compliance with federal & state regulations
  • Monitor sponsorships and product integration and determine V-Chip content ratings for all assigned programming
  • Travel for show coverage and attends meetings (virtual and in-person) to keep abreast of show content and potential issues
  • Manage and oversee indirect report(s) and specific coverage areas, providing day-to-day guidance and performance feedback as needed
  • Delegate assignments to Associate(s) and ensures review is completed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Review and approve recommendations made and notes issued by Associate(s) as needed
  • Operate the Broadcast Interrupt Button during the coverage of live entertainment programming, live specials, and sports programming
  • C omplete special projects when assigned and may be assigned managerial oversight of a specific coverage area based on department requirements
  • Assist the Director with oversight of the department or attend interdepartmental meetings as needed

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5+ years of work experience in entertainment, legal, programming and/or production, including at least 2 years of S&P experience
  • Excellent negotiation skills, very strong oral and written communication skills
  • Effectively communicate with various internal departments, subordinates, superiors, producers, and advertisers
  • Issue spotting, problem solving, and ability to apply standards and distinguish them from personal beliefs
  • Computer savvy
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, databases and web browsing
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Work well under pressure
  • Ability to apply standards independently and with close attention to detail
  • Ability to judge when to elevate questions to managers

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $85,000.00-90,000.00 annually for California. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
