Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Manager, Communications in West Hills, Ca. The Manager, Communications will develop and fulfill communications strategies for Thermo Fisher’s transplant diagnostics business, which provides innovative solutions for clinicians and patients in all phases of transplantation. This role provides an exciting opportunity to interact with the transplant community and develop inspirational stories that highlight why our work matters and the difference our solutions make in improving the lives of patients.
We are looking for a strong communications professional who has experience in both internal and external communications programs. We want a storyteller who can use their experience, collaborative approach and passion for problem-solving to develop messages that are moving and motivating.
As a well-rounded and expert communications professional, you will bring your leadership in creating integrated communications strategies and storytelling campaigns to reach both internal and external audiences. Reporting to the Senior Director of Communications for Specialty Diagnostics, you will work in partnership with the senior leadership within our transplant diagnostics business and team members at all levels across the company to amplify awareness of transplant diagnostics’ innovations and products, establish senior executives as thought leaders, engage employees, and build and champion communications standard processes.

What you will do:
- Build, implement and measure success of integrated communications strategies for the transplant diagnostics business.
- Provide executive-level internal communications support for senior leadership, including developing and implementing a strategy for cascading leadership messages and establishing a consistent and effective platform for communicating to global audiences throughout the year.
- Develop and implement, in collaboration within internal team members and external agencies, multi-channel communication strategies in support of patient and Mission centric strategies and campaigns. Build connections, work collaboratively and serve as a resource across the organization to scale patient-centric communications across various businesses.
- Lead and manage public relations strategies and campaigns that reinforce and advance Thermo Fisher’s reputation and demonstrate our thought leadership in scientific advancement and human impact.
- Produce compelling content for various communication channels, including town hall presentations, leadership messages, intranet, videos, press releases, etc.
- Partner with business and HR team members on change communication initiatives, including developing business level messages, talking points, FAQs and other materials to support change.

Education
- Requires an undergraduate degree
Experience
- Requires a minimum of 7 years dynamic experience in corporate communications, internal communications or public relations.
- Previous experience leading external communications campaigns in the healthcare, diagnostics or patient advocacy space a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively.
- Excels at influencing without authority.
- Experience engaging with external partners including media, customers, advocacy organizations, tradeshow attendees, etc.
- A strong writer, editor and communicator with the ability to build channel-specific content. Experience in social media platforms, intranet content and other communication technologies preferred.
- Strong verbal communicator with excellent interpersonal and listening skills.
- Combination of strategic and creative problem solver and hands-on tactician.
- Business knowledge and intellectual curiosity to learn about business strategies, competitive landscape and scientific technologies.
- Team player, working toward the greater good of the organization.
- Focused, detailed and organized and able to balance multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- A storyteller with experience translating technical topics into easy-to-understand and impactful content
- Open to feedback, flexibility and continuous improvement.
- Experience partnering with senior executives, developing content in their voice and style.
- A curiosity about science or the life sciences is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism or communications from an accredited institution.
- Ability to travel internationally and domestically as needed.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $103,100.00-$154,700.00.
This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
