Plans, directs, and tracks the work of cost engineers to achieve department and specific Program objectives
• Monitors scheduling and department resources to meet/exceed business objectives and goals
• Supervise and train engineers on cost practices
• Works closely and constructively with other departments within the division to gain consensus on the best Design-to-Cost strategy for various types of aircraft interior products
• Collaborate with supply chain, manufacturing engineering, and Program management to find cost-effective design solutions
• Collaborate with Safran Group entities on Design-to-Cost standards
• Actively works with project engineers to ensure Design-to-Cost deliverables are completed on schedule and on budget
• Serve as Subject Matter Expert on Design-to-Cost
• Implement Safran’s Design-to-Cost processes on all division Programs
• Drive Design Engineering to integrate cost as part of the design development process
• Drive commonality of Design-to-Cost principals across projects
• Provide Design-to-Cost expertise during product design reviews to ensure cost targets are achieved
• Responsible for preparing Design-to-Cost estimates at the proposal phase and during the course of projects
• Support Programs to ensure business case cost targets are met
• Prepare and report cost summary reports and metrics for internal management and the customer
• Track recurring cost on development and sustaining Programs with relevant KPIs
• Create and implement necessary tools for cost data visualization
• Develop the practice and the process for cost tracking implementation
• Promote cost awareness through BOM management and manufacturing decision making

The Cost Specialist Engineering Manager (CSEM) provides leadership for the Cost-Engineering group supporting current and future Programs. The CSEM oversees the execution of cost engineering, personnel development and technical competence of the cost-engineering department. The CSEM is responsible for the department’s organizational structure and alignment with customer and Program needs.
Candidate skills & requirements
Computer Skills:
• Working knowledge of CAD & PLM systems
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Other Skills:
• Experience working aircraft OEM products
• Strong knowledge of common materials and manufacturing processes used in the aerospace industry
• Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Good knowledge of testing and certification requirements for common aerospace components and materials
• Excellent organization and communication skills
• Business acumen to assist in establishing budgets, providing Program health metrics to management, make recommendations for resourcing Programs
• Ability to work well independently and cross-functionally
• Strong communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to motivate team efforts to accomplish goals
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to develop, implement and monitor corrective action plans
