About Producer, Performing Arts
BRIC seeks a Producer, Performing Arts who will provide artistic, operational, and administrative support for BRIC’s performing arts programs, including residency, commissioning, and curated performances for dance, theater, music and spoken word. This role will oversee programs including but not limited to Performing Arts BRIClab and Entrepreneurship BRIClab.
What You’ll Do in the Role:
The Producer, Performing Arts will be responsible for the following in addition to any other project as assigned by their manager, the Chief Program Officer:
- Serve as producer for live events at BRIC House.
- Advance events to understand artist needs, oversee artist services and act as the production liaison
- Oversee artist contracting, payment tracking and database management.
- Curate performances and residencies.
- Negotiate fees and deal terms.
- Cover readings, workshops, productions, concerts, and festivals in NYC and regionally.
- Oversee the open call process for residency programs and manage outreach, info sessions, reviewers, timelines, and artist selection.
- Conduct regular check-ins with resident artists, providing guidance, resources, and feedback as needed Develop and maintain the BRIClab budget.
- Work with BRIClab managers across departments to meet budget expense limits.
- Collaborate with Production and Operation staff to prepare for rehearsals, residencies and performances, liaising with artists and preparing detailed pre-event summaries and post-event reports.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to promote BRIClab residencies and other performing arts programs.
- Collaborate with the Development team to prepare fundraising proposals and funder reports.
- Represent BRIC in public forums and the larger. artist residency and performing arts community.
- Partner with Production, Performing Arts and other departments to produce Poetry Slams at BRIC House.
- Performs other duties as needed.

- Skills & Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree in any field of study.

- Minimum 5 years of experience in performing arts producing or residency management; deep understanding of the NYC performing arts landscape preferred.
- Working knowledge of performing arts and artist residency trends to ensure BRIC’s relevance within the industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook).
- Ability to listen openly, think strategically and influence across all levels of an organization.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills to successfully work with people across a wide range of communities.
- Demonstrated understanding of racial and disability justice and the ability to engage with individuals from historically underrepresented communities.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team, and the ability to communicate with all levels of an organization.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong project-management skills, from concept and planning to implementation.
Other Things to Know:
- Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is $50-$60K.
- Status and location: This is a full-time, non-exempt role based in our Brooklyn office.
