Manager, Data Visualization

The Position

Strategic Analytics is a growing team at Arch that develops innovative predictive models and analytical tools to improve profitability and growth as well as providing deep analytical insight for decision makers. Advanced analytics techniques play a critical role in this mission. To be successful, we need to develop powerful models, tools and insights that give Arch a unique, competitive advantage.

As Manager, Data Visualization you will play a crucial role in developing the team’s visualization capability. You will work on high-profile visualization projects that support the teams wider predictive analytics work and this will drive the company’s decision-making and strategy. You will work alongside a talented team of data engineers, data scientists and other visualization experts to build best-in-class analytics insight. As an important member of the Strategic Analytics team, you will help advance our visualization capabilities.

This is a hybrid position that can be based out of our Jersey City, NJ, Philadelphia, PA, Hartford, CT, or Dallas, TX office – 2x/week in office.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with data scientists and business partners to develop and implement wireframes aimed at business actions based on data driven insights
  • Develop dashboards based on wireframes
  • Design end to end reporting solution sufficing business needs
  • Build data models sourcing data from various data sources viz. Azure SQL Server, SQL Server, Snowflake for reporting
  • Optimize the existing dashboards to improve user experience
  • Implement writeback capabilities in the reporting tool leveraging various automation tools
  • Leverage technology to automate manual tasks and reporting needs
  • Develop pixel perfect reports where appropriate
  • Build & support applications in Power Apps and integrate it with Power BI
  • Research marketplace visuals and R/Python visuals to create new dashboard enhancements
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain existing VBA scripts
  • Develop & implement visualization best practices across the team
  • Build POC’s to explore new features, tools & technologies

Required Skills/Experience

  • 5-7 years of experience in developing reports & dashboards leveraging visualization tools viz. Power BI, QlikView, Tableau
  • 2-3 years of recent experience in Power BI visualization tool along with prior experience in any other visualization tool
  • Strong experience in building data models (Star Schema/Snowflake) in the visualization tool
  • Proficient in writing complex measures in the visualization tool (DAX)
  • Ability to writing complex SQL queries to pull the data into visualization tool and for querying data for analysis purpose
  • Experience in pixel perfect reporting (Paginated Reports/SSRS)
  • Experience in building geo mapping capabilities in the visualization tool
  • Intermediate experience in Power Automate (Microsoft Flow/Power Apps)
  • Intermediate experience in R/Python scripting

Desired Skills/Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in building dashboards/reports to support analytics/actuarial functions in an insurance company setting
  • Experience in reporting tools viz. Power BI, Report builder
  • Ability to handle technical tasks/problems independently – managing tasks and engaging people across the team
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Exceptional collaboration and relationship building skills
  • A mind set of continued learning, and the desire to explore new tool choices and understand how data can be used to drive change
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain complex concepts

Education

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Technology degree, Data Analytics or equivalent
  • Technical certification in any BI technology would be preferred

For individuals assigned or hired to work in Jersey City, New York City, and/ or Westchester County, the base salary range is $148,614 to $201,066 as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.

Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above range may be modified in the future.
