Overview

BJC Home Care offers patients and their families a complete range of home care services, including skilled nursing services, adult and pediatric hospice and supportive care, rehabilitation therapy, home infusion therapy, infusion treatment rooms, home medical equipment and high-tech respiratory care. Specialty home care programs also are available, including adult and pediatric asthma, cardiac, diabetes, orthopedic and wound care programs.

Role Purpose

The Manager, Education & Professional Development Programs is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating the education, professional development, and clinical practice for four service lines within home care services. This position is also responsible for facilitating and ensuring ongoing needs assessment, application of clinical practice, and education modalities that support both new graduates and experienced clinicians for over 400 staff members.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a subject matter expert and resource within BJC for home care specific education, quality, licensure, and accreditation; serves as an expert on six distinct clinical services with separate accreditation, licensure, quality, & regulations; serves as a system subject matter expert and representative for home care on system level councils giving clinical support and direction to evolving practice models.
  • Directs the development, implementation and evaluation of on-boarding orientation, competencies and education; performs periodic needs assessments and surveys to improve outcomes and adopt evidence-based approaches.
  • Develops and implements evidence-based clinical practice; supports and coordinates with research projects with principal investigator.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates programs to support professional development and education, including new graduate, preceptor, and orientation programs.
  • Develops and leads department practice councils, guiding performance improvement in accordance with regulatory and magnet principles.
  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: onboarding and hiring, training, workload management & performance evaluations, conducting professional development plans as needed. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
