JOB SUMMARY

Global Brand Public Relations is an integral function of Marriott’s Global Communications & Public Affairs (GCPA) department which leads Corporate Communications, Media Relations, Internal Communications, Government Affairs, Social Impact, and Multicultural Affairs for the Company. The Manager, Luxury Brand Public Relations (PR) is responsible for support in the development, activation, and implementation of media relations strategies and public relations initiatives for all of Marriott International’s luxury brands which includes The Ritz-Carlton, Ritz-Carlton Reserve, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, JW Marriott, W Hotels, The Luxury Collection and the MILUX Portfolio.

The Manager, Luxury Brand PR directly reports to the Senior Director, Luxury Brand PR with a dual line reporting to the Director, Luxury Brands to support PR for all of the luxury brands. The position works at the MI Lab office in New York City or the Marriott headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland.

Job Expectations

The Manager, Luxury Brand PR is responsible for wide range of public relations initiatives and activities, including media relations, publicity generation, media tours, and special event management, specifically:

PR Management & Execution:

  • Partners with the Luxury Brand PR team to support PR strategies by helping to plan, develop, activate and implement public relations initiatives. This position helps to create, edit and develop brand PR materials including messaging, new releases, executive briefs, talking points, presentations and pitches, among other documents.
  • Helps to develop integrated public relations tools (e.g., tool kits, templates, newsletters).
  • Monitors and measures success using tools and resources available and delivers metrics on a timely basis to management. Creates reports for presentation to stakeholders.
  • Supports team members in producing strategic and tactical presentations to internal clients. Collaborates with brand teams, digital and social teams, the teams within GCPA, and outside agencies to support the PR goals of the business.
  • Supports external PR agency oversight and organizes weekly calls.

Media Relations:

  • Develops and nurtures professional media relationships in travel and leisure and other key outlets/journalists in order to continually “pitch” Marriott brand stories.
  • Tracks U.S. media coverage and shares clips with appropriate internal audiences, and collaborates with global counterparts to compile, prepare and share monthly, quarterly and annual reports for senior leaders.
  • Supports Luxury Brand PR team to implement media/blogger relations programs/proactive pitches targeted to a variety of media, including trade, consumer travel and lifestyle, as well as national outlets, and publicity programs.
  • Helps to develops various press materials, including press releases, briefing documents, talking points and speeches.

Events:

  • Executes various programs and events with team members in support of their brands within the portfolio.
  • Executes and implements staff media events including building invite lists and securing media attendees.
  • Provides assistance in drafting briefing materials and media itineraries.
  • Helps team manage brand/regional events, such as openings, press conferences, off-property events, conferences, and media tours.
  • Maintains the team calendar consisting of scheduled PR event/news/announcements for Luxury Brands.
  1. Requirements for Position

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience as follows:

  • 2+ years of relevant professional experience in public relations, media, marketing, business administration, or related function.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Knowledge of media relations – proficient in social media and relationships with cultural influencers that are relevant to target audience.
  • Demonstrated news first mind-set; able to create stories and content surrounding brands that is newsworthy.
  • Experience collaborating with internal partners and stakeholders to support business/initiative strategies.
  • Success in determining priorities, schedules, plans and necessary resources to ensure completion of any projects on schedule.
  • A team player who is both curious and flexible and thrives in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Desire and flexibility to travel and attend select brand events and hotel openings.
  • Ability to routinely work from the NYC Office or HQ office in Bethesda.

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in public relations, communications, international studies, social sciences, journalism, marketing, business administration, or related major.

The salary range for this position is $74,550.00 to $131,705.00] annually. This position offers health care benefits, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, accrued paid time off (including sick leave where applicable), life insurance, disability coverage, other life and work wellness benefits and may include incentive compensation.
