In this position, the Manager of Maintenance Training will be an integral member of the Workforce Technical Training team. Our team is a dedicated and energetic team with a focus toward providing curriculum development and training expertise, and training process support for supported business units.
The Manager of Maintenance Technical Training plays a strategic role overseeing the strategy, execution, and delivery of training programs across UTA’s maintenance technical departments. This position plans, organizes, and directs training and development programs for employees for the purpose of increasing individual and organizational performance and employee engagement while simultaneously enhancing employee skills. Manages training team members to provide strategic leadership, tactical planning, and data analysis in delivering training programs throughout the maintenance technical departments. Works closely with People Office leadership and UTA management in assessing and developing standard training programs and strategies to address current and future training needs. Ensures training programs align and comply with policies, rules, standard operating procedures, collective bargaining agreement obligations and federal and state regulations. Develops and manages the training budget. Implements and engrains the UTA Way into training programs and daily work activity.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Behavior, Training and Development, Instructional Design, Human Resources or related field.
EXPERIENCE:
- Six years previous work experience in Training and Development.
- Four years supervising a training function with demonstrated skills in developing training and team building programs. Principles of leadership, supervision, training, motivation, and coaching.
- Four years’ experience in transportation maintenance, including knowledge of bus and rail fleet systems, work orders, fleet maintenance requirements, and a thorough working knowledge of heavy equipment (including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems).
- Preferred experience: Developing training standards; knowledge of the ADDIE/AGILE methodology or similar methods; and coordinating training efforts within a decentralized environment.
- Must be proficient with Learning Management Systems (e.g. SumTotal) and demonstrated experience in administration of program.
- Project management experience is preferred including the ability to research and evaluate alternatives at all steps of the training process.
- Adept in applying adult learning theory and coaching concepts in curriculum design and coaching.
- Ability to conduct needs analysis, training proposals, training manuals and course content.

- Skilled in computer use and the application of a variety of associated software to include Learning Management Systems preferably in SumTotal, Adobe Suite, and Articulate 360.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office software programs (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.) at the intermediate level.
