College of Arts and Sciences is seeking an experienced (1 ) Manager, Marketing and Public Relations, who will focus on telling the story of the college and our students, faculty, alumni, and supporters.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO
The ideal Marketing and PR Manager candidate is to tell the story of the college and our students, faculty, alumni, and supporters. The marketing and PR manager will develop strategies to drive increased interest from our external audiences and continued engagement with our internal audiences. As head of the college’s creative team, the marketing and PR manager will be responsible for the development and dissemination of feature stories, news releases, campaign messaging, and other content that facilitates student and faculty recruitment, healthy enrollment, connections with community and industry partners, successful fundraising, and an elevated research profile.
This position will report to and work closely with the director of college strategy and communications in the College of Arts & Sciences. The marketing and PR manager will collaborate with PR and marketing communications professionals across the university, as well as faculty and administrators within our academic departments.
The essential duties and responsibilities of the Manager, Marketing, and Public Relations are the following:
- Coordinates the development of content for a variety of audiences to be used across multiple (primarily digital) channels and campaigns, including the university’s news hub, college and departmental websites, social media channels, video streaming,
- Writes, edits, and proofreads content such as feature stories, news releases, social media posts, marketing copy, newsletter messages, video scripts, etc.
- Manages a small team of content creators, including social media manager and writers; Ensures consistency and quality control of the team’s work and alignment with university branding, visual identity, and editorial style.
- Implements marketing strategies and tactics, utilizing owned and earned media opportunities to promote the value of Arts & Sciences at Georgia State.
- Collaborates with college and university leaders and admissions marketing staff to implement enrollment marketing campaigns; Advises academic program directors on enrollment marketing strategies.
- Fosters relationships with media outlets to pitch stories and boost the college’s visibility.
- Supports university-level PR and marketing communications; Helps implement university initiatives in the college.
- Gathers, tracks, and reports on information and performance data related to projects and goals.
- Provides counsel to college leaders on PR matters and crisis situations.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the director of college strategy and communications and/or the dean.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, rhetoric, and composition, or related field; two years of supervisory or managerial experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Hiring Requirements:
- Exceptional communication skills, adept at crafting, shaping, and conveying compelling narratives and packaging messages in a variety of ways
- Experience in public relations, media relations, and digital marketing communications, preferably in a higher education context
- Track record of leveraging digital and traditional marketing channels to support an organization’s vision and elevate its reputation
- Ability to adhere to and uphold university brand identity standards and editorial style guidelines
- Strong understanding of search engine optimization (SEO), keyword research, and analytics.
- Creative and collaborative problem solver
- Passionate about higher education, with knowledge and interest in a wide range of academic fields
- Master’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, rhetoric and composition, or related field
