Position Title: Manager, Network Planning and Programs

$75,000 to $125,000 annually DOE

Job Summary

The Manager of Network Planning will be responsible for the oversight, planning, budgeting, and project timing for network growth, modernization, consolidation, and advancement needs in a fiber focused business. As a Program Manager, there are additional responsibilities for Vendor oversite and performance management. The Manager ensures effective use of company funds to identify, budget, time, and build a flexible fiber-based network. The Manager is responsible for keeping the team aligned on the optimal network distribution solutions and establishing and managing key team metrics. The Manager will be accountable to effectively creating and managing network build programs related to FTTP.

  • Develop both short and long-term market strategies for network investment and evolution to support customer demands
  • Drive comprehensive network analysis
  • Drive proactive planning that supports sales funnel creation
  • Drive optimal project architecture solutions while balancing the customer experience, cost, scalability, and reliability
  • Drive implementation of solutions to solve capacity constraints prior to network exhaust
  • Support Sales as needed to develop solutions and occasionally work directly with customers
  • Drive processes and automation to support LEAN process approaches to solve problems
  • Lead overall project costing and support business case development
  • Guide partner organizations/suppliers to successfully implement solutions
  • Drive network and process advancement
  • Provide technical guidance and input on technologies for implementation and consideration

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Communications, Telecommunications, Computer Science desirable
  • 5+ years of Telecommunication network experience required
  • 2+ years of Managerial experience required
  • The qualified candidate will need to have a broad network understanding
    • Access networks
    • FTTP/FTTN
    • BBDLC network
    • Ethernet Services
    • Feeder/Distribution facilities
    • Customer Prem solutions
    • MDU/MTU solutions
    • SONET
    • Wireless
    • Transport/Data dependencies
  • Outside Plant (OSP) architectures consisting of underground, direct buried, aerial, and building applications.
  • In-depth understanding of PON architectures to include centralized and distributed splits greenfield MDU/SFU, and inside wiring solutions
  • Network elements associated with FTTP, FTTN, xPON, BDLC, TDM, G.Hn, Broadband services, and Active Ethernet solutions
  • CPE solutions
  • Database skills desirable but not required
  • GIS experience desirable with platforms such as ARC GIS and QGIS
  • Understanding of CAD based drawing systems
  • Proficiency in common offices tools such as Excel, Work, Powerpoint
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cross functionally to achieve positive outcomes
  • Operate from a customer centered mindset
  • Works well in a team environment driven by partnerships
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Understand LEAN concepts
