The Manager of Category Excellence is responsible for translating marketplace trends and shopper insights into category growth opportunities to deliver shopper centric recommendations.

This position reports into The Director of Category Excellence and Shopper Insights and based at Skillman, NJ or Fort Washington, PA. Remote work options may be considered on a case-by-case basis and if approved by the Company.

What You Will Do

The Manager of Category Excellence is responsible for defining national best in class category fundamentals for perfect store, developing category leadership stories to shape the future of our categories, while partnering with internal and external partners to deliver results for Kenvue, the shopper and our retail customers. This role will support our Skin/Hair Care or Vitamin businesses. As a Manager of Category Excellence, you play a critical role in understanding consumer & shopper behavior and retail trends to drive informed business decisions. You will be responsible for gathering, analyzing and presenting shopper insights and category growth recommendations to internal and external partners, ultimately driving Kenvue’s credibility for strategic category partnership in the marketplace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development of category strategies that identifies market and shopper trends and opportunities that will drive category growth.
  • Uncover category insights and opportunities that translate into actionable omni recommendations for both internal brand teams and customer teams that will influence shopper behavior and deliver on critical KPI metrics.
  • Analyze & synthesize data from various sources that connects information and tells a story to inspire and influence cross functional business partners while driving collaboration with retail customers.
  • Communicate and coordinate key strategies, insights and business opportunities between category field teams and internal teams to gain alignment across a matrix environment to support goal achievement.
  • Facilitate primary research aligned with key category priorities and questions to deliver on annual E2E learning plans.
  • Act as a key point for contact for category teams, sales teams and customer strategy partners in relation to shopper behavior and opportunities.

What We Are Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required.
  • A minimum 5 years of CPG experience with a focus on category management, shopper insights and/or sales analytics required.
  • Experience with syndicated data sources and consumer panels, like Nielsen, IRI, Numerator are required.
  • Ability to influence decision makers up and down two or more levels, with and without direct authority, to ensure alignment is required.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills are required.
  • Ability to prioritize and deliver against competing demands.
  • Ability to digest and understand large quantities of data and information, and effectively communicate key take aways for retailers and our Kenvue brand partners.
  • Demonstration of strong presentation skills and ability to tailor communication style to a variety of key decision makers.
  • Use data driven insights and facts to deliver persuasive content to gain support for business strategies / or initiatives.
  • Up to 10% of travel is required.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in Beauty and/or Vitamin categories is a plus
  • Experience with primary consumer or shopper research is a plus
  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast paced, matrixed environment.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $97,000 – $166,750
