The Manager, Cloud Infrastructure, will lead efforts and team members in assessment, architecture design, upgrade, standardization, and maintenance of IT infrastructure in the cloud and all Infrastructure outside of the US. This includes working closely with the Workplace Technology Managers, Application Owners, and architects to ensure that all locations meet Penumbra standards and are properly maintained. This position will identify and implement process improvements, lead technical design and troubleshooting efforts, and oversee projects as required. This position is based in Alameda, CA and job responsibilities may include US based projects as required.
What You’ll Work On
- Lead cloud infrastructure efforts including optimization of use and cost, as well as Security initiatives as required.
- Develop Strategy and roadmap for Microsoft Cloud and Productivity tools
- Partner with Microsoft and other partners to understand emerging trends in technology and their use and impact for Penumbra
- Develop International team to support and enhance IT Infrastructure and Operations Services enabling Penumbra Infrastructure to be standardized and managed to meet worldwide needs.
- Develop process and procedure documentation that ensures compliance with all Quality and audit requirements. Prepare and support audits as required.
- Develop staffing plans, presentations, and detailed project plans to meet company needs.
- Develop and integrate a technology plan with counterparts in IT to enhance current infrastructure and improve and grow our utilization of existing infrastructure, cloud services, and tools.
- Work closely with other IT leaders to assist with application support and other enhancements.
- Work closely with our Security and Compliance team to improve protection against security threats, DLP, and responsiveness to threats.
- Build tools for IT Operations to enhance monitoring and improvements in time to detect issues. Identify opportunities to automate tasks and maintain operational tools. Troubleshoot and resolve issues escalated by internal customers, external partners, critical systems, including implementing and deploying emergency fixes.
- Hire, train, and develop the team to respond, and troubleshoot issues that arise including monitoring, alerting, communicating, and resolving issues. Provide 24×7 on-call support as required.
- Lead or support projects to ensure that efforts are well communicated, status is transparent, and objectives are met.
- Manage communications and project outcomes, applying best practices in change management and user experience management.
- Provide regular program level status reports to senior management.
- Comply with quality system regulations, standards and procedures.
- Select, manage, train, and develop staff. Establish objectives and assignments and provide ongoing feedback through performance reviews and development plans.
- Adhere to the Company’s Quality Management System (QMS) as well as domestic and global quality system regulations, standards, and procedures.
- Understand relevant security, privacy and compliance principles and adhere to the regulations, standards, and procedures that are applicable to the Company.
- Ensure other members of the department follow the QMS, regulations, standards, and procedures.

What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field with 10+ years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10+ years’ experience managing US and/or international IT infrastructure, security or network environments strongly preferred
- Advanced understanding of cloud systems, architecture, and management
- Knowledge of International standards, ITIL, Azure, O365
- 5 years of experience in a supervisory role desired
- Medical device, pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated industry experience desired
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize assignments while handling various projects simultaneously
Working Conditions
- General office environment. Willingness and ability to work on site. May have business travel from 0% – 5%. Requires some lifting and moving of up to 15 pounds. Must be able to move between buildings and floors. Must be able to remain stationary and use a computer or other standard office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine, for an extensive period of time each day. Must be able to read, prepare emails, and produce documents and spreadsheets. Must be able to move within the office and access file cabinets or supplies, as needed. Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information with employees at all levels on a daily basis.
- Starting Base Salary Is: $131,628 to $193,673
- Individual compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, work location and shift, and will increase over time based on meeting performance and business needs.
