Job Summary
The Customer Payment Processing Center (CPPC) handles the payment operations both mail and electronic and operates out of the Springfield office in New Jersey which is the reporting location for this position. The payment center handles over 30 million payments per year via a multitude of channels and serves over 2.3 million customers in the service territory. The position also manages the Revenue Integrity (RID) department.
This manager position leads daily operations of the payment center by managing the many different payment channels, the relationship with Treasury, the technology systems, the SOX controls related to payment and the delivery of optimum quality of service to customers. Relative to RID, the manager position oversees manager who leads the investigation, billing and dispute resolution of customer installations and the safety and operations of the MAST field team performing that work.
Job Responsibilities
- Position manages payment processing bargaining unit and management personnel to process payments and post customer payments to their accounts timely.
- Responsible to achieve targeted performance across both the areas of payment and the RID departments.
- Responsible for the operating integrity of all the payment and cash files as well as the RID bills, negotiations and writeoffs.
- Leads payment operations during system and storm outage events and reoccurring workload peaks.
- Safeguards company assets, customer information and insures compliance with all applicable SOX controls.
- Leads the development and execution of employee engagement actions plans; demonstrates the ability to maintain collaborative relationships with Union leadership and administer the collective bargaining agreement.
- Position provides leadership, personnel development and overall direction to foster a collaborative atmosphere in pursuit of Company goals and objectives.
- Position leads/implements cross departmental process improvement efforts.
- Position continually scans the external environment for emergent proven practices, digital offerings and technology trends in payment center operations and customer payment channels .
- As required, initiate oral, written and one-on-one communication with customers, internal associates, external auditors and others.
- During storm/outage restoration efforts, position may be required to work extended hours and/or perform functions different from normal operations as well as report to alternate locations particularly related to the RID team.
Job Specific Qualifications
Required:
- BS Degree or, in lieu of a degree, 12 years of experience
- Minimum 8 years operational experience
- Financial acumen, analytical, compliance and process improvement skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to develop organizational talent and manage performance
- Must foster an inclusive work environment and respects all aspects of diversity
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and multi-task
- Must have a valid U. S. driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
