Position Purpose:

Under direction of the Director, Maritime manages the daily activities of the Maritime operations in the assigned ports and/ or airports ensuring customer satisfaction, proper vendor management, regulatory & safety compliance whilst managing efficient and profitable operations. Primary point of contact for vendors, regulatory bodies and port stakeholders for the assigned ports and/ or airports as it relates to day to day operations

Key Job Activities:

1) Selects, trains, and develops an effective and efficient staff:
• Makes every reasonable effort to select, train, and develop qualified, diverse workforce.
• Establishes and communicates performance standards and objectives; conducts performance appraisals.
• Recommends salary adjustments, promotions, transfers and dismissals.
• Monitors operations and staff and recommends, when necessary, changes in methods, procedures, structure, and additions or changes in personnel to secure optimum utilization of resources.
• Administers all Company policies and procedures, communicates to staff, interprets, as necessary, and ensures compliance and safety.
• Monitors and ensures that employees are performing their functions safely and productively. Makes recommendations for changes or improvement, when necessary, in order to prevent accident or injuries.
• Monitors department work productivity, reports on trends, recommends, and implements changes to continually improve work productivity.
2) Ensures that entire region is within regulatory compliance, including transfer stations, trucking, office and support facilities within the operation. Reviews all applicable regulatory paperwork.
3) Ensures continual improvement of productivity standards and worker safety performance in all phases of the operation.
4) Pro-actively interfaces with area peers to achieve business goals.
5) Initiates actions to assure timely resolution of identified hazards or unsafe conditions or practices. Trains Dock attendant’s and employees, when necessary.
6) Ensures adequate level of supplies and equipment and purchases supplies and equipment, when needed.
7) Performs other related duties as required or requested. Negotiates with vendors and sub-contractors to be certain all services are completed in a compliant and cost-effective manner.

Experience (North America & LATAM):

Preferred Education: Associate’s or equivalent
Required Years of Experience (North America only): 3+ years
Preferred Experience: Broad extensive knowledge of theories and techniques.
Preferred: 40hr HAZWOPER

Pursuant to the Texas Fair Pay Act, the base salary range in Texas for this position is $77,300 to $92,775. Compensation in other geographies may vary.
