Manager, Security

As the Security Manager you will lead and assign security personnel at Sutter Health Park events (both inside and outside of the stadium) to provide security protection against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal or unauthorized entry. You will hire, train, and provide direction to security staff on an ongoing basis. Ballpark leaders and staff will look to you to be the expert on our Emergency Response Plan, and you will help provide training to the teams as needed. Under your leadership, the Security Team will help us achieve a clean, safe, fun, and family friendly environment.

Security Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with contracted security companies for additional security support when needed.
  • Ensure the safety of our guests and fans to maintain Sutter Health Park’s image as a clean, safe, fun, and family friendly environment.
  • During events, security staff should monitor the stadium cameras, patrol and examine the concourse, suite level, grass berm, kids’ corner, team store, and hospitality areas and parking lots.
  • Security staff should set up metal detectors, enforce the clear bag policy, conduct bag checks for any approved non-clear bag, and maintain a presence at all entrances to the stadium, playing field and back of house operations.
  • Ability to work in conjunction with Guest Services to address complaints, unruly fans, trespassers, or scalpers, and address any emergencies that may occur.
  • Ability to work in conjunction with emergency medical personnel to help during emergencies. For example, providing crowd control and direction to allow medical personnel to respond free from obstacles.
  • At the conclusion of events, make sure the stadium is cleared and secured.
  • Observe departing stadium personnel to guard against theft of property and ensure their safety when exiting at late hours.
  • Observe and report property damage, unusual occurrences, or malfunctioning machinery or equipment.
  • Work in conjunction with local law enforcement and fire department.

Leadership Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Hire, manage, oversee, train, and schedule Sutter Health Park security personnel.
  • Coordinate with security personnel regularly to ensure River Cats Games and Sutter Heath Park special events are staffed at an appropriate level.
  • Day-of supervisor of security personnel during all River Cats games and Sutter Health Park special events.
  • Attend game and event planning meetings to ensure the vision is carried out from a security perspective. Responsible for providing feedback as necessary to ensure venue is safe.
  • Become an expert in Sutter Health Park’s Emergency Response Plan to execute and/or coordinate during an emergency and train stadium personnel.
  • Work alongside Human Resources to ensure security staff is adhering to Sutter Health Park policies and procedures. Security Manager will spend most time in-game or in-event. Some office hours required for scheduling, hiring, planning, and connecting with department leaders.
  • Assist with record keeping and management of proper security guard credentials.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Excellent observational skills and attention to detail. Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and give direction in the event of an emergency.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience or ability to learn scheduling and employee database programs (TMSS/ABI and Workday).
  • Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations and support de-escalation as needed.
  • Ability to learn the layout of the property and buildings.
  • Ability to support Sutter Health Park policies and procedures, being an advocate for the organization.
  • Ability to reward and/or discipline staff as appropriate.
  • Availability to work 75 baseball games plus special events throughout the season including mostly nights, weekends, and some holidays. Hours will vary based on events and game schedules.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, college degree preferred.
  • Security guard training certification required.
  • Previous experience in law enforcement is preferred.
  • Experience managing and scheduling a team of 30+.
  • Familiar with Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) licensing requirements preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to patrol the property and respond quickly to provide support during events and in the event of an emergency.
  • Ability to apprehend or eject violators from the premises.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and monitoring surveillance equipment.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.

Compensation: $35.00 per hour
