MANAGER/SENIOR MANAGER, FACILITIES OPERATIONS

The company’s goal is to identify and deploy neoantigens for novel treatments of cancer and infectious diseases. In addition to neoantigen therapy development, Gritstone is leveraging its unique antigen discovery platform to define targets for shared antigen immunotherapies, which would provide an opportunity to treat even more patients.

The Senior Manager of Facilities Operations will lead and manage the Gritstone GMP manufacturing and R&D facility operations to support the efforts for Gritstone’s drug product manufacturing processes. Products in clinical testing include adenoviral vectors and mRNA lipid nanoparticles for personalized cutting-edge cancer vaccine treatment. The facility consists of R&D and GMP laboratories with supporting office, warehousing, shipping and receiving, quality (testing) and development. This individual with collaborate extensively with the Lab Leads and Site Lead to facilitate design, facilitate the lab move from Cambridge to the Boston, MA site scheduled in 2023.

This individual will also interface with the overall corporate facilities function and provide technical guidance and input for required permitting and inspections. The position will have direct reports from EH&S,Maintenance, and both GMP and non-GMP Facilities functions.

Responsibilities:

Technical

  • Provide support for the Manufacturing, Development and Quality departments in the design and logistics specifics for their various functions
  • Collaborate with Process Development and Manufacturing to design and implement automated high throughput production equipment
  • Oversee the daily operations of facilities including department procurement, EH&S
  • Contribute to the Boston space planning strategy to ensure sufficient personnel space
  • Develop, manage, and maintain programs to protect the infrastructure and utilities at the site including facilities fitness, gowning management, pest control and janitorial services
  • Lead all construction work to ensure maximum facilities and grounds functionality
  • Direct all support and engagement activities on engineering/technology projects
  • Oversight over all Engineering, Maintenance & Calibration and Utilities activities at the Boston site.
  • Ability to obtain an MWRA License to operate the waste water system

Leadership

  • Partner with other operational functions to ensure success of project goals and GMP readiness and compliance
  • Responsible for developing and managing operating budgets and forecasts as well as capital and project budgets and forecasts.

Minimum Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent
  • 8+ years of corporate facilities ownership experience at medical device, pharmaceutical or biotechnology company
  • 5+ years of experience in team building and management
  • Blue Mountain experience or similar Maintenance Management software

Gritstone bio anticipates that the annual base salary for the Manager level position could range between $86,000 – $145,000. The anticipated annual base salary for the Senior Manager level position could range between $125,000 – $185,000. Compensation will depend, in part, on the successful candidate’s credentials for the role, including education, qualifications, and type as well as length of experience. Any offered salary is also based on internal equity, internal position salary ranges, and market data. The salary range listed does not include any applicable bonuses or long-term incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits. Gritstone is a multistate employer and the salary offered will be market competitive. At Gritstone, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

Gritstone’s benefit package includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and paid parental leave. Employees are also eligible to enroll in the 401k plan, which includes a 4% company match with immediate vesting. Employees are eligible to enroll in benefits effective the first day of employment and the competitive Paid Time Off (PTO) begins accruing on the first day as well.
