Manager, Sustainability Metrics

Primary Purpose of the Position:
The Global Sustainability Manager will manage the evolution of sustainability-related data as a decision-making tool. This includes oversight of corporate- and product-related sustainability metrics. This role leads the assurance and reporting of sustainability-related data in Ball’s voluntary and mandatory disclosures. This will be a key driver of the integration of sustainability ambitions and sustainability-related risks and opportunities into operational business functions through the development and management of cross-functional teams. In this role, it will be essential to establish effective relationships with decision-makers across the company to ensure ownership of sustainability.

Responsibilities:
Data Management

  • Manages Ball’s sustainability data inventory and drives business intelligence tools for the collection of sustainability metrics
  • Leads the corporate strategy to align sustainability data management and assurance with the level of rigor and timeline of financial data assurance to support voluntary and mandatory reporting requirements (incl. SEC, EU CSRD)
  • Further integrates sustainability into Ball’s strategy and execution through data driven measurement concepts, data analysis and modelling
  • Establishes collaborative relationships with the Corporate Communications and Internal Control team to ensure consistent reporting processes
  • Manages the Sustainability Metrics Analyst and establishes and maintains the development of process documents for all relevant sustainability metrics
  • Contributes to the completion of customer sustainability surveys and requests as it relates to greenhouse gas emissions, product carbon footprints, and additional sustainability KPIs
  • Leads collaboration between the Sustainability Team and global and regional Sustainability Engineering teams
  • Represents the Sustainability Team in the development and implementation of global data monitoring systems, including, but not limited to, Global Energy Monitoring
  • Establishes collaborative relationships with the IT team to ensure data quality and data collection timelines align with internal and external stakeholder needs

Climate Leadership

  • Manages Ball’s Science-Based Targets recalculation and revalidation process
  • Coordinates with internal energy engineers to develop strategies to achieve Ball’s 2030 energy efficiency target
  • Advances Ball’s net zero model, which supports the company in reducing emissions in line with external stakeholders’ expectations
  • Oversees the annual Supplier Sustainability Survey and develops collaborative relationships with suppliers to make progress towards near- and long-term sustainability goals

Water Security

  • Contributes to cross-functional team of water experts to achieve Ball’s 2030 water efficiency target
  • Leads the development and piloting of replicable guidance documents for high risk sites, including explicitly defined roles, responsibilities, metrics, and deliverables
  • Develops the business case for investing in water efficiency/water reduction projects as a tool to increase customer alignment and commercialize sustainability
  • Establishes relationships with customers to identify opportunities for partnerships in shared watershed

Experience & Skills Required:

  • Broad training in a related field acquired through bachelor’s degree level education or work-related experience
  • Job related experience for 5 year(s) minimum
  • Experience in data analysis and modelling of the value chain (cradle-to-grave)
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and regions and within diverse groups
  • Experience working with large, linked spreadsheets, data tools and systems
  • Building effective teams
  • Experience creating innovative solutions for multifaceted challenges
  • Ability to work autonomously and prioritize tasks efficiently

Compensation & Benefits

– Hiring Salary Range: $90,400-$149,500 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
