Manager, WSJ Marketing & Subscription Strategy

The Marketing and Subscriptions Strategy team is responsible for growing the subscriber base of Dow Jones products globally, across WSJ, Barron’s, MarketWatch and Investor’s Business Daily. This team sits within the Marketing org and sets strategic plans and priorities for each of the lines of business. This role works specifically on The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) and reports directly to the Director of Marketing & Subscription Strategy, WSJ.

Role Overview

Responsible for operating and assisting in marketing programs that drive subscription growth for The Wall Street Journal, through collaboration with the functional areas within the Subscriptions team and across Dow Jones. The role will help ensure all areas of the business are aligned and working toward the same strategic goals by collaborating closely with various teams including performance marketing, brand marketing, data science and analytics, customer insight, product, finance, legal, operations, customer service, enterprise sales and editorial.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the functional teams on programs and initiatives that drive global subscription growth volume and ensure agreed upon initiatives are moving forward. Serve as the day-to-day executional partner.
  • Understand and promote a customer-first mindset by sharing key audience segments and using customer insights to drive growth. Be a champion for the customer across the company.
  • Work closely with data and insight to identify trends and opportunities that support business cases to accelerate subscriber and revenue growth.
  • Attend regular meetings with marketing and cross-functional teams to ensure all are delivering on agreed plans that drive strategic goals. Manage tactical initiatives to ensure timely, on-budget execution.
  • Manage strategic marketing partnerships to expand into new subscriber growth areas.
  • Understand the competitive landscape to identify market opportunities and risks.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 7 years experience in a commercial role within a digital subscription business, experience working in media or publishing sectors is a plus
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed company model
  • Strong communication, collaboration, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Solid analytical and financial acumen; Use data effectively to make decisions.
  • Understands the marketing levers to pull across acquisition, retention and engagement to drive revenue and subscriptions
  • Ability to manage workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • A mindset that is data curious, data literate and digital first

Pay Range: $65,000 – $200,000
