Manufacturing Engineer I/Manufacturing Engineer II – Robotics

At the Ball Aerospace Manufacturing Center (AMC) location in Westminster, CO, we develop and manufacture state of the art tactical technologies including low profile antennas, electro-optical components, and phased arrays. Technological developments are driving rapid expansion of our manufacturing capabilities to support customer demands. You will get to work with state-of-the-art military, space, and tactical equipment. The role is hands-on, technically challenging, and allows you to contribute to impactful projects with exciting missions. You’ll work alongside highly skilled people including planners, engineers, and technicians where there is space to learn and grow. The manufacturing shops are shared processing centers encompassing adhesive cutting, chemical etching, printed circuit fabrication, machining, composite bonding, painting, and environmental test.

The primary focus of the robotic engineer is to maintain, operate, and program robotic paint operations in support of challenging technical requirements. The ideal candidate will have robotic programming experience, but training is available for candidates with a demonstrated aptitude for robotics. The role will have the opportunity to support other advanced manufacturing operations such as laser welding, optical inspection, and future automation opportunities.

What You’ll Do:

  • Create new programs for a Fanuc P-50iB Paint Robot.
  • Learn, Maintain, and Teach the HMI.
  • Support selection, validation, and operation of advanced manufacturing equipment.
  • Promote team engagement and participation in key operational / manufacturing phases by influential leadership.
  • Lead multifunctional teams of engineers, planners, technicians, and inspectors through multiple phases of product realization.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce effective and efficient manufacturing processes, instructions, flows, systems, and facilities that meet program, customer, and government compliance requirements.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and formally present innovative improvements to operational processes, instructions, and approaches that are required for meeting contract specifications for new or modified products and systems.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What You’ll Need:

  • Manufacturing Engineer I – BS/BA degree or higher in Engineering or a related field is required plus 2 or more years related experience.
  • Manufacturing Engineer II – BS/BA degree or higher in Engineering or a related field is required plus 5 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Experience with Fanuc Controllers a plus.
  • Experience with Fanuc Roboguide a plus.
  • Robotic & PLC Programming Experience (Rockwell, Allen Bradley Studio 5000) a plus.
  • Ability to maintain excellent rapport with internal and external customers.

Full-Time On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site full-time. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR MANUFACTURING ENGINEER I: $81,000 – $100,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
  • HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR MANUFACTURING ENGINEER II: $97,500 – $121,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
