Moog is looking for an Operations Manager for our Space Mechanisms site in Chatsworth, CA (Los Angeles area). You will be responsible for customer satisfaction and business unit (BU) profitability, achieved through on-time delivery meeting or coming under cost targets and instilling a continuous improvement approach to supply chain and on-site operations. You will oversee and coordinate all aspects of product manufacture including Supply Chain, Assembly, Test, and Capital Expenditures. Your team will consist of 2 managers, 3 supervisors, and 40 employees. You will report to the Director / BU General Manager and have an onsite work schedule.

As an Operations Manager, you will:
• Work collaboratively with sector and site leadership to identify and develop initiatives and business pursuit focus areas where a strategic operations/sourcing approach will add a significant competitive differentiator or improve program schedule performance or profitability.
• As a key member of the Moog Chatsworth Operations (MCO) site, provide input on sector strategy and tactics.
• Manage elements of Cost of Sales to positively influence the Profit contribution in support of MCO site financial expectations. Promote best practices throughout the site; champion improvement initiatives; flow forecasts and contractual commitments to supply chain; and source strategically. The expected outcome will be lower product costs, enhanced customer and supplier relationships, and consistently high product quality delivered in a timely manner.
• Ensure supply chain plans are in place for all MCO programs. Determine which product components will be manufactured externally and where they will be made. Lead make/buy analysis and decision making for components. Coordinate, conduct, or support key supplier negotiations / LTAs. One key outcome is a reduction in instances where a program’s actual Bill of Material costs significantly exceed the proposed costs.
• Drive decisions on facilities and equipment. Manage the MCO capital budget. This is done in collaboration with the MCO Site Leadership Team.
• Provide leadership and mentorship according to Moog culture and values. Actively participate in the recruitment, training, development, and performance reviews of MCO leadership roles that will maximize the achievement of all accountabilities.
• Foster a culture of Lean and Continuous Improvement to meet business metrics and KPIs.
• Manage a sales and operations planning process (S&OP) to improve material planning, inventory turns, on time delivery, standard lead times and product life cycle management.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree (in Business, Operations, or Engineering is desirable)
• 10+ years of experience in manufacturing operations
• 5+ years of experience in a managerial capacity
This position requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in the Space, Aerospace, or Defense industries
• Experience in a strategic leadership role
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles
• Experience with SAP is helpful

Salary range:
$130,000 – $175,000 annually
