Do you enjoy working hands-on? Are you knowledgeable of principles and procedures related to public land records and legal documentation? Do you have experience with property records, titles, land records, and acquiring rights of entry? Then look no further! The Virginia Department of Energy, Mined Land Repurposing program, is seeking a Mapping and Realty Specialist to administer the approved statewide Abandoned Mine Land (AML) program in accordance with regulations and the Virginia Energy Strategic plan. The successful candidate will conduct and coordinate program realty requirements, manage statewide AML real estate activities, perform realty related mapping and analysis, and complete administrative functions that support project development and management.
Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate should have the following knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience to qualify for this position:
• Knowledge of legal principles that relate to public land records and legal documentation as related to the duties of this position
• Considerable knowledge of public land record systems, title searches and abstraction, property deeds, computer operations, computer aided design (CAD), and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
• Skilled in 4-wheel drive vehicle operation and basic maintenance in accordance with agency guidelines and procedures
• Experience with property records, title searches, land record research, and acquiring rights of entry, preferably in the mineral extraction industry
• A valid driver’s license with a good driving record
This position has been designated as required to file a Statement of Economic Interest in accordance with Section 2.2-3114 of the Code of Virginia. In addition, the individual accepted for employment will have to pass a drug test with successful references as part of the Virginia Energy pre-employment process.
